  • Morning all :hello: :coffee:
Well, results day is here. Just waiting for ds to show his face and then we're off to school.
I was thinking how quick I am to get on here and moan when I'm having a bad day - well yesterday turned into a pretty good day all in all and I want to make sure I write it down so that I can remember it all.
I was very tired yesterday, no doubt about it - but I just gave myself another reasonably quiet day. The mortgage people eventually phoned me back and the good news there is that we have a decision in principle that will knock 3 years off our mortgage and be a slightly lower payment :j:j:j I was so sure that we wouldn't get an offer as well.
Also, my head of department rang me with exam results. They are strictly confidential so I can't say much but I think personally I can breathe a sigh of relief - perhaps less so for the whole department but I felt a huge weight off my shoulders once I'd spoken to him. :j:j
I'm sure that there was something else as well but I can't remember what it is off the top of my head. I got sunburnt but that's not a positive :o:o
  • Yay, glad things have taken an upturn! Sunburn is kind of good — means the sun has been shining :)

  • OK - now I can go public with my exam results. I had 35 chemistry students last year - top set triple. They all got A*-C and 22 of them got A*/A. I am so thrilled. I've cried with happiness with a couple of my lovely students and am ready to celebrate a little bit tonight. I had a horribly difficult year work wise last year but to see so many of them doing so well makes it all worthwhile. It's worth pointing out that I work in a really deprived area with high levels of unemployment etc. so anyone doing well is a massive bonus.

    CCL,

What an amazing set of results, be very proud! :T:beer::j:T

Given all of the issues you had last year in school with lack of continuity and changes in the department I think you have done very well, hopefully your Head of Department is pleased too. Has the Headteacher given you any feedback? She too should be well pleased.

  • Tremendous!!! A huge well done and you should be very proud of both yourself and your students. Enjoy a celebratory drink (or three) of your choice, you deserve it.
  • Morning all :coffee: (just about).
I'm suffering a bit this morning after splashing out on a celebratory bottle of prosecco last night. Mixed it with peach puree to make a bellini and drank the lot. Didn't feel like getting up at 7am when I heard one of the cats puking on the stairs. Then I had to tidy round a bit and hoover as we had the Young Carers from Sunderland coming to meet the kids. So I'm just about getting started for today now.
I'm still thrilled with the results - thanks all for the kind words. I can't believe how well they've done :D - I am so proud of my kids. Particularly as overall the trend is down for GCSE's. I didn't speak to the Head yesterday (didn't want to) but the Head of Department is pleased overall. He seems to think that as we did that well with 4 members of staff over the year, then imagine what we can do this year when there is a full team. The school's results are up 12% English and Maths so the Head was in the local paper last night saying how proud she is.
So, not sure where to start today. No real plans (maybe a nap - I feel like I'm always saying that). I need to continue with my knitting and crochet stuff, and do some cooking as it's heading towards payday and whilst we still have loads of food, I am under the impression that there's nothing in for us to eat :rotfl: Load of washing done and out drying on the line and I think that's it for now.
