Re the Albert Bartlett oven chips, they are in the co op £5 meal deal, so you get a box of fish, a box of fish fingers, a pack of peas and 6 Cornettos as well as the chips. Not a bad offer..0

£23.25 in Aldi the other day - the other half's hunger went shopping!
Total now £76.42
Going to do an online shop soon because I have a few promo codes and vouchers to use, which means I don't have to lug the heavy stuff.0 -
Thanks everyone will just keep the budget as it is and hope for the best

I've gone over budget. Had £7.30 left, spent £7.50 on booze (so needed) and £1.50 on some ice cream cones, so £1.70 over (so far). Off to a picnic, so gonna use my M&S voucher, if its not expired, as it was a present to me. It was doable without alcohol included - guess I should stop being so hard on myself and set a realistic budget.0

where does the money go! I'm sure I make frugal choices, we have ice cream in town but it's £1 from Tiger instead of £2.50 from Thorntons......I had a child free weekend but I went to the pub. Looking back at my goodbudget app I can see almost £30 spent on little things, coffee, juice, ice cream......
If I think of it in terms of £9 a day left (for me and my teenage son) which has to feed us that will stop the frittering pretty quickly.
I've started drinking halves but still buying my friends pints when it's my round - what do people do? Shall I just buy my own drinks from now on?0 -
Halfway through the month & starting to panic... another £79.52 spent, £23.80 at the market on fruit & veg yesterday and £55.72 at the wholesalers today, leaving me just under £200 for the rest of the month. Which would be do-able, as we won't need to buy any more pet or livestock food, but we still have to do the oriental grocery stock-up... as this is something which only happens once ever 6 months or so, I'm very tempted to divide the total for that by 6! But that would be cheating, so I won't, especially as the £55 at the wholesalers included enough butter to keep my tame bakers (the girls, DDs 1 & 2, and TDiL) busy for two months, and the 8Kg sack of flour bought at the start of the month will last for 2-3 months.
I did this because I said to a friend that our food budget probably came in at about £600 per month; she nearly choked & said that that was only a little more than she spends for 2 of them & 3 dogs. (Their fuel bills are not much less than ours, either.) I think she thought I was underestimating wildly, but it turns out I did have a fairly accurate idea. I could get it a fair bit further down if I didn't insist on fresh & local where possible, but living where it's produced, so reasonably cheap, and buying without a middle man to take his cut, it'd be daft not to.Angie - GC Aug25: £292.26/£550 : 2025 Fashion on the Ration Challenge: 26/68: (Money's just a substitute for time & talent...)0 -
£36 spent over the weekend as a top up for bits and pieces that we had run low of and also to satisfy DH.
We off today & tomorrow and he loves his sweet stuff especially when hot as it is and it doesn't help him in the slightest.
Sigs will be updated.
Have a good rest of the week everyone!

Spent £12.74 at the shops. Fresh fruit and vegetables mainly. My OH and I have decided we are going to eat our 5 a day for sure. Any day we don't meet our targets we have to put 20p in a tin (we can't afford much more than that
)
Also picked up orange juice, yogurt, bread and eggs.
Feel very pleased because the apples i got in Iceland and it is clearly labelled that the Braeburn apples are a 6 pack for £1.50....accept I got 7 in my pack! I also feel pleased because in Iceland there was a massive queue and only one cashier as all the other staff were leaving for the day or not helping and everyone was getting stressed, but when it was my turn at the till i told her she was doing a great job and she seemed really pleased.
There is £19.24 of the budget remaining. Which is about £1.74/5 a day until the 27th. Not entirely impossible, but will be a tough challenge.Debt Free Stage 1 - Completed 27/08/2020
