Next time you decide to make a big purchase you should take a responsible adult with you to hold your hand!.

You really need to take responsibility for your actions and realise this is entirely your fault!. By trying to blame the dealership you are basically saying you can't be trusted to make any financial decisions. If that is the case you shouldn't be going out making big purchases without someone with you!.

    Edit:
I've just seen that you have also posted in the PPI forum about misbought PPI!.

Would you be interested in buying some magic beans I can do you a really good deal ;) ?

Salesmen quote figures they are given. 100 mile range is what they will advertise, if not, if this isn't the advertised figure and you can prove they said it, you have a case.

As for charging points not being available due to being in use or not working, that isn't NIssan's fault.

Renault will tell you what you want to hear because they see you as a potential customer. You sell the Nissan and go to Renault to buy a petrol car off them. They're just telling you what you want to hear.

This is rather unnecessary isn't it? Playground bully boy tactics are really very unpleasant. Why not lay off and offer help rather than ridicule. Remember hindsight is also 20/20

Nissan told us 100 miles out of one charge...
The reality is very different and the 100 miles is not accurate,

Not only are Nissan perfectly correct in quoting that official NEDC range, that is the ONLY figure they can legally quote you. To give you anything different from the official figure would be illegal, just as with petrol/diesel official fuel economy figures.
The zip zap map showed loads of points...
...with alot of the charges not working makes it virtually impossible.

Are these non-functional chargers owned or otherwise controlled by Nissan? Is the map published by them?
Nissan do have a duty to make sure its fit for purpose

So what faults does your car have that stop it functioning as designed?

but Nissan do have a duty to make sure its fit for purpose and

It IS fit for purpose. Nissan supplied a car. You don't have anywhere to put a charger. Sheffield is full of chargers apparently. If these are broken, your issue is with that supplier, not Nissan. If they're in use, you're stuck.
Before you bought the car, how did you think you would charge it x2 per week?
If you drive it at a constant 30, I bet you'll get those 100 miles. I do sympathise with that part, because the tests they do to come up with these figures are even less realistic than the petrol/diesel car. But the car IS fit for purpose. Would you have any comeback at Nissan if you'd bought a petrol car and your local petrol station closed?
What did you tell Nissan your 'purpose' was, and how is the car not fit?
a Renault dealership and the manager there told us it is their policy not to sell electric or hybrid cars to customers without off street parking

That's because they install a charger as part of the car purchase.

I may seem harsh but there seems to be so many people on here who by things without thinking and then blame the person selling it!. These people need to have a reality check otherwise they are just going to continue in life buying incorrect things and wasting money.!

Plus this is definetly not a case of hindsight. They knew before they bought it that they would not be able to charge it at home.
So all they had to do was take a few weeks and whenever they are out and about doing their normal driving have a look out for charging point locations and how many are being used. They would then have known that a car like this wasn't suitable for them.
They rushed into the purchase without carrying out any research at all.

I don't disagree with your points, I just don't see a need for a pile on, and the magic beans comment was excessive IMO. By all means criticise, and there is no scope for not fit for purpose return and by using that phrase, the OP might limit any goodwill offers.

Yes, the OP made a mistake, and must take responsibility for it, but let's not guild the lily.

    Can we do that?

We have 15 payments left on PCP-we were told we can just pay this off and hand it back?
Nissan valued it at 9k giving it a 5k defecit....

Sorry to hear about the bad experience you've had with the Leaf and no home charging. I have to say without access to home charging I don't think ANY electric car is manageable, not even Tesla Model S/X. One of the things I love about my Leaf is the ability to charge at home overnight and not having to worry about going out of my way to find a petrol station.

I doubt very much your get much progress from Nissan in regards to 'mis-selling'. In summer the real life range isn't far off 100 miles, but if you havent got access to a reliable home/destination charger it means your can never really use all the range because you have to keep 10-20 miles spare to find a charger.

The problem with the Nissan Leaf PCP finance deals is they are so back-loaded (High final payment), they are essentially like lease deals. So very hard/expensive to exit. I have heard if you phone up RCI (Nissan's finance company) they will take the car back providing you pay off the remaining monthly payments (So £151x15 in your case).

Unfortunately there is really no other way out of the deal. Leaf used prices are really low partly because of these cheap new PCP deal.

Hope you can find a decent solution to your problem.....People have been known to trail the charging cable across the payment. It's not entirely clear the which way the law will come down on you if some one tripped on the cable.

If you're deemed to be negligent in how you've left it dangled, then you'd be liable.

Something like this would be a good solution, though.

There's lighter-duty/shorter/cheaper - but for use on the pavement, I'd go for the medium.

Some supermarkets have unofficial charging points (just a set of plug sockets in the car park) which you can plug your charger into.

Not ideal I know, but if you can locate any nearby it would be a solution if you can't get rid of the car.

If the salesperson told you that you could use the car to its full range by charging only at public recharging points then you would appear to have a case for the FOS to look at.

If you didn't record the conversation then I'd suggest you make notes so you don't forget what was said pre-sale.
