My dad has alzheimer's and I go to see him once every 2 weeks as the care home he is in is far away. Every single time I go and visit him he doesn't remember who I am and that I came down to see him 2 weeks prior. It's so painful that he doesn't remember me but I also understand of course... Even though its incredibly tough, I would still keep visiting - your dad won't be around forever, sadly, and although he does get confused and upset, all the time you spend with him will be a cherished memory one day. I agree with other posters that to reduce his anxiety you should "go along" with him to a certain degree... its incredibly tough and theres no right or wrong way, you just have to do what you feel is right in the moment. Thats all you can do. Good luck.
