It's gone 6 o'clock and I can't see much for all my effort today :( plus it is soooo hot *wilt*

My eyes keep trying to close. Only getting 5 hours sleep definitely is to blame. Caravan is a sweat box of misery...

Hi all, back from hols and house is full of cobwebs and dust.
Had to get car to garage for 8.30am service, knew a few big things would need doing for the MOT (it is 2005 reg); they rang me at 9am checking permission to go ahead and the bill will be about £800. gulp. Still we had expected it. Plus they need to order bits, so I'll be confined to the village till Wed apart from the motor bike. Didn't fancy doing Ald1 on the bike once it had got so hot, so living out of the freezer and garden.

1 load washing done, hung out and dry within the hour.
Lots of greenhouse watering, dead heading, tying up straggly plants and weeding done before it got too hot.
Diary/emails/calendar looked through to see what this week has to offer.

MIL finally has appt for cataract op, 6 Aug which fortunately doesn't clash with anything else we have; plus it is midday on a Saturday so should be manageable.

I've only scanned through last week's thread, so hugs sticks and spoons, welcome to newbies/returners, glad wedding went well.
Shocked at scales this morning but not surprised as motor bike holidays lend themselves to lots of coffee and cake stops.........oh well back to MFP.
Remember...a layer of dust protects the wood beneath it.
  • Evening,

    Welcome new flyers:)

Oh dear.Nothing done today. Apart from paid stuff and WM. A sore throat I have had since Friday is turning into generally feeling grotty. So for a change I'm going to rest, instead of ignoring my body and carrying on as normal.

CY I'm so glad the wedding went well, it's a shame I'm not on FB.

Narco glad you had a good hol, yikes to the garage bill!

Happy birthday to your DH, dancemum x

Evening all and a warm welcome to the new peoples :hello:

Great to see so many other people's cars passing their MOTs - though £800 is a bit steep Narco

Well it was quite a nice day after all. We had some sunshine and it actually reached about 22 degrees for an hour or so. It's a lovely quiet evening here for once - overlooking the beach with a flat sea and a full moon reflecting 'a path' to the empty beach.

All my de-cluttering from last week has gone to the chazzer. One of the flats is being cleared out after renters have moved. There were two up-right oscillating fans being put out so we asked if we could re-home them :) They are both absolutely filthy, so are on newspaper in the porch. One works fine and DH is going to have a look at the other one to see if it's something minor and he can fix it. Then I'll thoroughly clean either one or both of them.

    Hi Froddington
I remember when we were doing up our last house the builder quoted £5k miniumn for a bathroom.
I seem to remember a lot of that was plumbing. And he did say in older homes like ours was (victorian) that flooring is a big consideration. If its bad when they take the bath out it can be very expensive. My builder said he had worked on one bathroom where having removed the bath it revealed subsidence and the place had to be condemned!
So bottom line is the cost depends on the age of the property and also any issues uncovered once work is undetaken. The actual fixtures and fittings can be done for as little or much as you want to part with.

    Hope that helps.
