Neither of us are into clubbing, but it's supposed to be a beautiful place, if we don't go there I think we are going to go on some last minute holiday somewhere where the sun shines!!Current debt - £16,300
Debt at worst 17/03/2011 - £18,067.62:eek::eek::ANot going anywhere else, ever again :A0 -
OK I have thought long and hard about this and i would like to join. The reason I have thought long and hard is that my Holiday next year is a major one. Florida with everything the magic kingdom can throw at me. I suspect that some people will think, why am i incurring this cost when my debts are so high'. Well S*d it i have never been to the good old US of A
let alone Florida and my DD's will be 7 & 5 and it will be a holiday of a lifetime.
Right guilt trip over i can't wait. It is not until Nov 2008 and it is a lot of money but includes flights (Virgin), Hotel (Virgin) and car hire and insurance(again Virgin).
Long way to go but Added to Sig
ym
Ps forgot to mention it also includes 14 day passes to Disney/Universal

lucy, i went to es cana once and it is really a gorgeous resort there. if you do go to ibiza you shouls try to go there to look one day. theres not alot there but its a nice palce to wonder around and i couldnt believe how "green" it was! nice place.
were doin turkey for first time so lookin forward to that means as its somehwere different like!
yellow, i know what u mean u sort of get a guilty feeling that u shouldnt be going away with debts in tow. but if u look at my sig weve got major debts, but were still going to have our family holiday next yr-we didnt go this year due to finances. i dont think any1 will think bad of u for it, end of the day ur saving up for it and not using credit card/loans etc and in the mean time you are still paying your debts off, so i dont see owt wrong with it chic
i was the exact same about 2 minutes after we left thomas cook! i thought oh god what are we thinking?! then oh reminded me we are working very hard this year, both doing 2 jobs each, doing every mystery shop available and delivering yellow pages-again- booo... but its all money isnt it. so oh reminded me that we prob do deserve it. at which point i went "oh go on then"

Thanks noggin.
This will be the first holiday in a long time that has not gone on the credit card so that is an achievment in itself.

I think we need to take a break, if nothing else to remind us that it will be worth it in the end. I mean after all we are in debt, not crimminals!!!

yellowmonkey, well done for not hitting the credit cards with this holiday, and as you have said its a once in a lifetime thing and its best to take the children to disney when they are still young
good luck]

Pap & Noggin,
Although I'm going on holiday next year, I've already paid for the flights (straight out of bank account - nowhere near my visa:j) and I have about 900 euros towards spending money (we'll probably have another £500 simply from weekly money & shopping bill).
In 2009 we're hoping to go on a big holiday (round the world flights £1100 each, hotels in San Francisco & Kuala Lumpar, resorts booked in Oz & Bali). Overall we're looking at saving up £3500 + spending money). So far I have £100. Is it too early for me to join a holiday savings club?
Pre MSE this would have gone straight on my Visa without hesitation. Now I want to save up (benefit from compound interest), shop around for the best deals and make my money go further or by more drinks:beer: !

PaP,
I'm so sad, I've worked out how much I need to set aside each month from now until 2 months before we go! I'm determined that my visa will only gather dust!!!
Good luck with yours as well.
