Sympathy? No !!!!!!! way.
Many will find out the real meaning of 'don't bite the hand that feeds you' pretty soon.
You tread the same path as BobQ.0 -

Sadly many of the young who are lacking in judgement and experience (whether washed or not), choose to support Corbyn who refuses to condemn the bombers of the IRA who placed bombs in Warrington high street, Birminham pubs and Brighton as well as other places killing and maining many.
Perhaps they will grow up and learn a little economics and history and adopt more suitable roll models and policies.0 -
Sorry to join this thread so late and should not really post on a price rises thread. Mae'n ddrwg da fi.
At last count we had 400 doctors from the EU in Wales. There is complete hysteria in our community when 1 GP cannot replaced. It is only a matter of time before some of the EU doctors to leave, there are already reports of aggression from patients or towards their families. Where do we go then? Our GPs in rural Wales tend to be over 50 so this will be an increasing problem, plus people really do not want the rural life anymore, too isolated, too much clinical risk.
We do not train enough doctors in the UK. We set up a new medical school in Abertawe / Swansea but we are still not meeting demand. Nurses are also in short supply.
The lead time to set up a new medical school (in Bangor?) is many years - so how are we going to cope pro tem? India? Pakistan? Russia? Cuba?
These problems were well known and discussed before the Referendum, yet I found it very difficult to engage Leave voters with these issues. (apart from some who said hard period for a few years followed by shining uplands). Presumably the EU will not part fund a medical school now or anything else!0 -

virtually ALL 'leave' people support the principle that key workers should be allowed into the UK.
if there are people in wales being aggressive to anyone then the matter must be reported to the police
no idea what you do, if no-one wants to live in an isolated backward place, but its not really an issue to do with brexit.0 -
I saidIt is inevitable that prices will rise. Those hardest hit will be those least able to cope with the increases, But if they voted Leave then they deserve little sympathy if they now complain about the impact.
.my view is that you would especially like the people who voted brexit to suffer more than the others and that you would like the opportunity to say 'I told you so'.
Do you believe that with the new level of the pound there will not be higher prices? I think there will be rises
Do you believe that if they do rise those most affected will be those on low incomes, particularly fixed incomes? I think they will.
Do you believe that it is possible to protect those on low incomes from price rises based on the way they voted? I do not.
All I said was that if someone is adversely affected by price rises and voted for them they deserve less sympathy than someone who did not.
You are throwing around accusative words like vindictive.
Then you say:my view is that you would like the brexit to 'fail'.

No I want Brexit to succeed but that does not mean I agree with the decision or have to sympathise with those who voted for it who then complain about the consequences.undetterred wrote: »Succinctly put.

Go tell that to the greek youth with 50% unemployment.
Or does your European sympathy not really stretch further than these shores ?
It is failing young people all across the continent and with that evidence you conclude I have voted anti youth ..I struggle to work that one out ?
Or are you just being another bad loser .
Get over yourself ,your bemoaning a fact is becoming tiresome .
As you well know, I was referring to those who voted in the UK.
Yes my sympathy does stretch to improving the lot of people in the EU, that is why I voted to remain and advocate change. I was referring to people over 70 who when discussing the referendum with their great grandchildren who asked them to vote Remain said they knew better.
If you do not want a debate, why are you posting?Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
If you guys don't want to debate about brexit then you can simply ignore every post about it and post about something else, or stop reading these forums. Coming here, posting about brexit, then complaining when someone else does the same but with opposite views is stupid.
I have no idea why, but instead of being pleased at the result the pro-Brexiteers seem to have become even more intolerant and insulting of those who disagree with them. I suspect they simply do not trust the Government to leave and are angry that we have not triggered Article 50 instantly and packed the immigrants off to the continent. A typical UKIP reaction in fact.
If you support one party in a GE and it loses are you supposed to change your principles?
This thread was about prices after Brexit but anyone commenting on the subject is subject to insults if they do not tow the party lineFew people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. The wages of the lowest paid have been held down for many years due to the immigration.
We have a large balance of payments deficit made worse by the large population: the level of the pound was artifically being higher by mortgaging the future so we can overconsume today.
There must inevitably be a correction with the pound falling and import prices rising: this is good time for this to happen as we have high level of employment.
The same people will be affected if the deed happens now or in the future.
As the poorest are presumably on benefits then they are unlikely to be the people most affected.
Few poor people are on fixed incomes
In any event the decision to protect some people is a political decision.
I believe the vast majority of people vote for what they thought was best for themselves, their children and their grandchildren and the country in general.
I don't share your views about relative culpability whatever the outcome.0 -
I suspect price rises, but maybe not as quickly as people think. It's likely to be technology first, but companies, particularly larger ones, would hedge the exchange rate which usually occurs once a year. So that would depend on how long is left on the hedge insurance which would be individual to each company.
Of note I'm building 3 houses and have 41 sash windows coming from Europe. Immediately after the result I was scared pricing was going to go up. Fortunately the company are holding the price even if Euro gets to parity with the Pound. I have 4 companies where I'm getting materials from and they're all holding price (thankfully). Of course it cannot be like that forever.
Remainer or Brexiteer irrespectively just be thankful we live in a wonderful country and what we concern ourselves with is really a privilege when compared with what Turkey is going through right now.0 -

Are their prices not in Euros? If so why would they change them?Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0
