However only one DE, take your pick for 'nix. For all it's sins I still go for KDE on Opensuse as KDE is the most customisable DE I know of.
    Hi

The later versions, Leap 42.1 for instance, is not as customisable as the Debian 8.3 version IMHO.

    Uh ?

Never used Suse Studio and the OBS ? You can customise as much as you like.

There aren't any, unless you install dodgy third party software. You do know that Windows 7 has error reporting functions too?

not to mention the start up menu...or lack of it. May as well have been using a completely different system. W10 is the new W Millenium.
If you remove all the tiles and minimise the tile section it looks pretty much the same as the Windows 7 start menu. It is completely configurable.

They do say there's no such thing as a free lunch. No wonder Microsoft are trying to force everyone to upgrade to that crap.
It works very well in my experience so it is not crap.

Linux is fine until the one day you need to manually do something and its why did i bother. a few clicks in windows and that would be done.

But i wont be movig to windows 10 until my personal programs are no longer required...

Have you tried it with Win10 32-bit?

I know that in Windows 8, you could run old 16-bit programs in the 32-bit version of Windows 8, but not 64-bit. I imagine Windows 10 might be the same?

Yep, it works on win 7 32 and 64 using compatability mode. But not on windows 10 at all. 32 or 64 and every setting i can try.

It just doesnt like it. Although i didnt try a VM machine in windows 10. when i upgrade to an 8 core FX8320 or whatever i choose maybe time to try 10 again?

I've had a quick look at ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS which i ran from a usb without having to install.
As feared it seems difficult to use. I couldn't even connect to the Internet as there was no obvious way.

As well as the difficulty (seems like you have to learn some programming language) i'm also concerned about the functionality (or lack of it). That it won't work with most of the stuff i use when browsing - bbc/flash content etc. And that it won't work with my Epson wireless printer, gaming joystick etc.

    Hi

    Yes.

I took Leap back a version of KDE

"It is a KDE problem with plasma5 You can still load KDE4 though "

    Which I did.

V5 has lost some of the 'features' that were in V4, and that is why I have an opinion on the matter, and I logged a 'complaint' with the KDE maintainers in the hope that it may be resolved.

I have absolutely no idea what you are trying to say and I don't think you do either; unformulated incoherence with neither fact or substance.

The only viable approach is to download the source code for Linux Mint and compile the OS yourself, that way you know you're safe.

Why not use Windows XP, that was stable!
