I thought as I walked down to the coffee shop for a nice strong Americano and slice of toast,

You really do like a walk on the wild side...what about the "cigarettes 'n' whisky 'n' wild, wild wimmin"?:D

Might be a case of "My wife won't let me...?:)
  • Got my letter this morning and began the claim online (already registered on Gateway) , now expecting a code to proceed further arriving in post .

I haven't gotten round to claiming mine yet, although I received the paperwork a week ago.

I'm just interested in the code you mentioned. What's that for?

I'm sure I'll find out soon. Must get around to doing that.

To use the State Pension Online service requires that you are registered for that service withing the government gateway. This is triggered when you fist attempt access and you then get sent an access code by snail mail.

Most of the whole government gateway has this security model, you have to prove who you are to each individual service - individual departments do not accept that a gateway account in itself is any proof of who you are!

Thanks but 33Lurcher said ".... began the claim online (already registered on Gateway)", so I presumed that the code business had already been done and that he/she was referring to a second type of code arriving in the post.

    Not really important, just curious.
