State Pension due in a few days - not heard from DWP

He said that the payment due on July 4th was "set up" but no one had actually activated it. He said he had then "forced it through" and it would take 3-5 business days to arrive.
During that conversation it was pointed out to him/DWP that the K-code has arrived from HMRC and therefore tax will be taken on that pension payment, on the next payday (21st) whether the first pension payment has arrived or not.
Nothing would have happened on this, had not I been so persistent in chasing them up.
This is true of any payment, not just DWP.

Okay everyone, today I received my ANSoD -Award Notice and Statement of Details. Looking good so far, on the 8th Aug I get my first payment, three weeks worth.

(again......) Good Luck with that one, freddie. The first pension payment scheduled for July 4th has still not arrived July 18th (unless they actually do it on Monday, which seems unlikely if you read up this thread).
And, guess what! They've already taken the tax on it! The K code arrived before the pension, and as I predicted, the tax hit on July salary is massive. HMRC now have the tax on a pension which DWP have not paid yet.
You need to keep an eye on this one, as I did, and not just cheerfully assume that they'll do what they said they would do, on the date they said they were going to do it. Hope that helps.0 -
Good news, have fun spending it0

Call me cynical, but I find this very hard to believe. The DWP website is up and running as normal (they have published thirteen separate announcements today alone), there is nothing about their computers not working (that I could see) anywhere on their own website nor elsewhere on the internet.
I happen to have been in a job centre on Wednesday and can confrim that there appeared to be major problems with DWPs internal network and none of the staff were able to access their systems.
DWP don't have a website of their own - there are pages relating to DWP on the gov.uk site, which covers all government departments.0 -

Well so far so good, expecting my first sp payment in a few weeks.
I still work part time, not because I need to but because it's fun! No pressure, interesting work and you get paid! What's not to like?
Anyway july's pay slip has arrived and whoopee, no NI! It's actually described as NI Pensioner Conntr 0.00! I was expecting it, but the curios thing is as we are payed a month in arrears this is for work I did in June.
So the rule seems to be that regardless of when you earned the money if it's payed after you reach sp age then it's not due any NI, even if it was just one day after your birthday.
Just thought people may find that quite interesting.

Indeed My salary was paid on the 15th of the month, my birth day is the 14th. In the month I reached my State Pension age I paid no NI contribution.0 -
I was expecting a pro-rata amount of NI to be taken, I'd from 26th June to 18 Jul and just the bit 19 - 25 Jul NI free! Good news indeed0

The first (part-payment) of state pension arrived on 21st July, two weeks and three days after they had said it would arrive.
The delay was not caused by someone 'stopping it', the delay was caused by someone not starting it. The delay was also not caused by computer breakdowns at DWP in the interim: it had simply not been started until they were prodded at least four times so to do.
I am posting this to be helpful to anyone reading, who might (reasonably) expect their state pension to start on the day they said it would. You have to put effort in to make it happen.
Meanwhile another part of HMG worked ahead of time: they took the tax on the as-yet-undelivered-pension. Another K code has arrived, which makes the fifth tax code change this tax year (i.e., since April, i.e., in three months there have been five tax code changes).
