    So, if Ocado didn't take the money you'd put aside for your shopping, what happened to it?
    The original payment was rejected, I suspect, because there weren't enough funds. I also suspect the OP was hoping to pay the bill over time by setting up a payment plan. Unfortunately, Ocado kept repeating the payment request until the Bank paid it. This scuppered the Op's plan, hence the thread.

    I never knew there was such a thing as a payment plan to pay for groceries. Neither was I aware they would actually deliver groceries that hadn't been paid for. I guess the OP was playing the system to her advantage if this is the case then.

    Well done Ocado for doing op a favor... you still delivered food to your customer in need despite not having been paid for it and unofficially agreed to collect another time.

    Sounds like really good service that!
  • I suspect OP switched away from Ocado at least in part because they hoped that Ocado wouldn't notice they hadn't taken the money and they wouldn't have to later pay for it. But I'm very cynical like that...

    OP, to draw a line under what has happened and what to try next to resolve the issues it's caused;

    First of all contact your bank. Explain your financial status (low income) and ask them if they can please ignore the charges. There is a copy-paste letter on the site to do things like this if you find your getting nowhere with a phone call. And remember when speaking to them it helps a lot to be nice to the person on the phone with you, bank fees are able to be refunded in some cases but it can take a lot longer if you end up trying to get help from stroppy staff!

    Contact Ocado. Let them know what has happened and how it has affected you. It could prevent it happening to others or even happen to yourself in the future, it's not your job to correct their methods of service but if they don't know how their actions affect customers then they never know what to change. I'd have thought it was common sense to let someone who obviously could have financial issues (for the money to be refused the first time indicates financial issues) that they were about to take the money from your account a second beforehand so they were prepared but I suppose if you've not had or known anyone in that position you're not going to have that same understanding. Let them know how their actions have affected you so they have the option to amend them for the future and perhaps help you feel like something productive may have come out of all this!
  • The point is that a limited budget will go much further with the discount supermarkets. How that advice would appear "condescending" is beyond me.
    As for the OP's child, I haven't seen much mention by anyone other than the OP...

    As I said earlier, the "Debt-Free-Wannabe" forum is for non-judgemental help and support;

    The OP can spend money anywhere she wants to, but isn't this site called Money SAVING expert?
    If money is tight for the OP, why is it "codswallop" to suggest shopping at cheaper shops?

    Yes. That's why I shop at w8rs. And money is tight.

    Do you mean Waitrose, or is w8rs a different store that offers far lower prices than Waitrose? ;)
