Tesco 2 litre 'pure' filtered milk is only £1.03 yesterday. Made it feel a little cheaper although it's not quite 4 pints.

There own made bread unsliced 2 for £1.

Here's a bargain. 4 pack of tesco tuna steak in brine (discontinued line) only 95p.

I bought 4pts of Skimmed Milk from my local Co-Op yesterday.
It's still priced at 99p in there.
  • Here's what i noticed:

    1. Tesco skimmed milk 3 pints , previously £1.05 now £1.34

    2. country life butter previously 81p now 96 p

    3. Tesco whole milk, prev £1.64 now £1.96

    4. Hovis best of both bread, prev £1.05 now £1.15

I buy all these regularly, now switching to netto
  • Money saving tip: Buy stuff like 'best of both' on deals (was two for £1.50 I think for a while, but I guess not now), then freeze what you don't plan to use current day/next day. I know some people do like to buy their bread fresh every day, but this works for me.
Also, sometimes 2 small loaves can be cheaper than 1 large. Eg. of this from this week. Morrisons two 400g sliced granary worked out cheaper than one 800g. You would think that 'bulk' saves money, but not always!!
  • 4 pints of milk is only 79p in my local Birmingham store, that's gone up from 65p !!

It's taken them five years to work that one out? I wonder how much of our money the super sleuths at the OFT spent reaching that conclusion?!

It's been common knowledge for decades that the big guns collude to fix prices on hundreds of items; how else do prices magically go up on certain product lines by exactly the same amount at start of play on a particular day in the 4 major chains if they haven't all spoken to each other beforehand?

I look forward to the OFT spending the next 5 years finding out what religion the Pope is and what bears do in the woods.
  • I hear what you say taxiphil.

Of course OFT have made investigations of various kinds in the past , not just supermarkets, that have then 'cleared' the body being investigated. Curious we here this today a few days after more than one supermarket puts up prices by approx. the same amount
  • If anyone interested, newpaper ad says cravendale '2 for £2' (4 pts I think, but could be metric)

I will check my Asda tonite
