I wonder who the bright spark was who thought to put a '2 for £2 on 4 pints promotion', then introduce the £1.34 charge the following week. Talk about making your customers look elsewhere!

I was quite shocked, when we were charged £1.15 for 4 pints of milk, we were under the assumption it was 2 for £2, which made tesco the same price as iceland per 4 pints and matches the offer that asda have/had on.
Does anyone know if the 2 for £2 offer is asda is still on or shall we go back to iceland milk.

.......................Does anyone know if the 2 for £2 offer is asda is still on ?? .............................

    No it isn't!
Went in last week to get some and the offer was nowhere to be seen and 4 pints up to £1.36 .................

    so yesterday (Wed 12th) ................

........ back to a store (not particularly local but was in the area) where we've been buying 2 litres for 74p for a year or two, expecting to see it at least above 84p if not 94p or more ...

but no, SEL still at 74p so grabbed a couple.

Went to the till with a few other items and paid up.

Checked receipt = milk had been charged at 59p (that's FIFTY NINE pence folks) and BETTER STILL - there was a MULTIBUY saving of 18p.

    YEP, 2 x 2 litres for JUST £1

It did occur to me that the operator had made a mistake perhaps thinking they were 1 litre (but it was a barcode scanner rather than "human input") so I went back to check.

Then I found the "special offer" sign hanging next to the milk refrigerators

    2 litres - 59p / Buy 2 for £1 / Max 4 per customer

And the offer is on for the NEXT FOUR WEEKS !!!!

So no problems with VERY cheap milk for the next month.

And I took advantage of 2 other of their offers ....
and stocked up with some sugar at just 50p a bag (1kg)
and also got a 10 kilo sack of onions for £1.29 (that's under 6p a pound)

Sadly they only do "Normal" and "Semi" and I also needed some FULLY SKIMMED milk, but that still got sorted............ without resorting to the prices being quoted for Tesco etc.....

Went to visit my dad in the afternoon and called at yet another small shop nearby where they have been selling 2 litres for 80p for the last year or so

And YES it is still 80p and I got the last Fully Skimmed on the shelf.

    That's what I call A RESULT !

    S LOWER CASE OMEGA;6.59 so far ..
  • farmers are now getting paid a decent amount for milk (last year dad was getting about 17pence per litre, now its creeping up to about 35p) so obviously supermarkets will raise their prices in accordance (and it was the supermarkets' fault that farmers were getting such a pittance in the first place)

so all dairy produce will probably go up a bit, unless they were already charging over the odds for it (always a possibility )

I was going to post somthing last week and then i noticed this thread. I could not believe that milk went from 2 for £2 up to a massive £1.36p in ASDA. BUT the locally produced milk was only £1.14p I saw loads of people just pick up the ASDA milk as normal without seeing the price increase. Just goes to show how easy it is to charge more and get away with it.. NO ONE NOTICES except us!.

BUTTER also went up from 53p to 74p. How to they get away with that!! A lot of dairy products up by almost 30% or more, that's rediculous!

ALDI still had cheap milk and butter, so I know where I will be topping up.
NO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!
  • I was charged £1.34 for 4pts semi skilled at Morrisons yesterday evening - pretty sure it was still £1.15ish earlier in the week.... the signs to me are that this will be the new price everywhere. Any bets on a 2 for £2.50 'special offer' when we get used to the 20p a go rise??

I notice that tesco price check still has the lower prices . . So not sure how frequently they do their updates

Dairy farmers receive meaningful milk price rises
    15/08/2007 16:58:00
    Farmers Weekly
Dairy producers have finally received some meaningful price rises with milk buyers almost falling over themselves to claim their farmers were getting the best deal.

Those on liquid contracts (company names removed)will get a 2p/litre increase from September and another 3.5p/litre in October, boosting payments to an unprecedented 25p/litre.

If your Dad is getting 35p a litre then he has got a great contract!

Also goes to show that most people here don't read the quality newspapers where the increases being paid to dairy farmers have been widely reported.
