Dairy farmers receive meaningful milk price rises

    Farmers Weekly
Dairy producers have finally received some meaningful price rises with milk buyers almost falling over themselves to claim their farmers were getting the best deal.

Those on liquid contracts (company names removed)will get a 2p/litre increase from September and another 3.5p/litre in October, boosting payments to an unprecedented 25p/litre.

If your Dad is getting 35p a litre then he has got a great contract!

Also goes to show that most people here don't read the quality newspapers where the increases being paid to dairy farmers have been widely reported.

Was reported in the SUN yesterday that milk does in fact come from cows!
  • Farmfoods 4pts 95p the same company makes the milk for tesco. seen there lorries deleving milk at the tesco express i live above.

My Bro in law is a farmer, so he will be happy to get more. It's hard work keeping cows. I still want cheap food though, I guess we have just got used to it.

Yes, but the British have lost that millitant trait. Not since the fuel blockades have we made a pojnt. We just roll over and take what's coming.
The Frech and other Europeans get what they want by being a little millitant. We will just pay it.

if you have a cash and carry near you,try them, they have 3 litres for 99p and 6 pints, nearly 3.5 litres for £1.19, i think.much better value.one word of warnign, though, don't stock up,just get what you need for today and tomorrow as it does go off quickly.don't know why

I live not far from Leeds and if I am Leeds I will pop into Costco or Makro and stock up on milk , smoothies etc there.
We also have Jack Fultons chain near us, who sell milk as cheap as the supermarkets ( they also sell discontinued supermarket brands too ).
To really rub it in the supermarkeets faces, the little newsagent 100 yards down the road from my parents sells milk cheaper than the local supermarket too !

  • I was charged £1.34 for 4pts semi skilled at Morrisons yesterday evening - pretty sure it was still £1.15ish earlier in the week.... the signs to me are that this will be the new price everywhere. Any bets on a 2 for £2.50 'special offer' when we get used to the 20p a go rise??

I notice that tesco price check still has the lower prices . . So not sure how frequently they do their updates
Tesco price check today, if I have read it right, says tesco ol (own label) 4 pts £1.15, Morrisons £1.15, Asda £1.34. Dont know if that suggests they havent checked Morrisons since the last update, as I said last time our local Morrisons has gone up.

I will be in Asda later, but there are probably more important issues in the world..... like the Spurs v Arsenal game . . .
