Hi,
I buy milk in 6 pinters and they have gone up in Asda from £1.68 (or 2 for £3) to £1.96 each. My eyes couldn't believe it but the receipt says its true! Regards - Sally0 -
I noticed this too - Morrisons would do 2x4pintas for £2, but 1 was over £1. I have started to get them in Iceland - eggs also - 15 large eggs in Iceland for £1 - over £1 for 12 in both Tesco and Morrisons. The only thing is, my Iceland is half way up the high street, so I have to go back to the car park with heavy bags (free car park is a good 5 mins walk away, but has saved me a fortune ha ha). Also, being in the town I have to make sure that I only go to Iceland and Wilkos, otherwise I end up on a spending spree......C Card £5218.68 (Feb 2011)£2 coins (No 085) - £190Mort overpayments 2011 - £418.060

Farmers are going out of business as the prices of milk has become so low doe to massive buying power from the supermarkets. Raise the price and all the supermarkets get are complaints. Even if the farmers are noy getting paid more it just shows that all people are bothered about it was it costs us.0

anyone remember the floods???
i think quite a lot of farmers were affected by them and the wholesale price of most foodstuffs will go up over the next 6 months as quiite a lot of the crops were destroyed, and livestock killed, coupled with the foot and mouth outbreak, prices will go up.
plus milk is a loss leader to most supermarkets, you've been underpaying for years0 -
We have just moved from Wales to Lincolnshire and the first thing we noticed was milk is so much cheaper 80p for 6 pints of full fat( ok reduced price) but even at it's full price it was cheaper than wales..0

same with Tesco 6 pints @ £1.96 today not happy!0

There was a news report a while back on the rising price of milk and how it would stay high probably into next year. I still think its astounding that you can get it for the Equivalent for just over 30p a pint considering you pay 60p for a can of coke0

I for one don't mind paying extra, so long as at least some of it is passed on to the farmer - which, somehow, knowing Mr Tesco of old, I doubt!0

i love this china thing as an excuse!
becuase of 'China' prices have gone up, on milk of all things.
of all things to transport milk to china would be uneconomical and not very environmentally friendly and milk would be turning sour by the time it go there!
i appreciate milk could be turned into products such as cheese etc.
i have some chinese neighbours and have a good friend who runs a chinese takeout and i also have some good indian workmates. Both are quite livid when they hear things like the indias economy is booming and so is chinas and thats why us brits are paying more etc. they say its a complete con, as both india and china are self sufficient for the greater part with regards to farming/agricultural and dairy products. they import little if any from outside there borders. they also said that both the indian and chinese ecomomies have been booming for many yers now and the international perspective seems to have only focused within the last three to four years.
All milk which tesco and other UK supermarkets buy is from british farmers who have not asked (or are scared) to ask tesco more money for there goods.0
