Tescos milk £1.36 for 4 pints East Anglia bad!!

This may be in the wrong forum if so sorry but I was disgusted to se at Tescos that 4 pints of milk are now £1.36 a few weks ago they were £1.05 or 2 for £2.

Anyone know why the filtered milk tescos 2 litres (4 pints) own brand is £1.09 that's 27p cheaper!! why??

Lots of items gone up today eg own brand butter was 55p last time I bought it now 70p!! Rip off I shall go back to Lidl where it is 54p

  • I noticed yesterday that their healthy living low fat cheese increased from £1.99 to £2.09 overnight. Wonder if it's just dairy products?

Or maybe it is because Tesco is a business, and increases (or decreases) its prices according to supply and demand?
    Gone ... or have I?
  • 2 litres is less than 4 pints.
  • Lactofree milk has risen by 12p to 1.38/litre everywhere - noticed it at Asda last week and online at Tesco today :(

My OH drinks 5 cartons a week of this as he's lactose intolerant, myself and the children drink ordinary ss milk which costs about £7.50/week from the milkman for 4x2litre and 1x1litre, that's over £14/week on milk alone.

I'm thinking of buying a cow or 2 lol

I noticed that too! So back to Iceland where its still £1 for 4 pints and you dont have to buy 2 lots as at Tesco ,just no clubcard points! When one supermarket puts things up the others seem to follow, particularly true for Tesco and Asda!
  • I expect that the excuse if not the reason is that they will say wholesale prices have risen due to the foot and mouth outbreak.

Wholsale prices of milk have doubled since this time last year, and by 20% in the last month. This is mainly due to high demand form China.
We all want a cheap dvd players etc, but this is the downside.

That's about £0.83 per litre - I pay less than that for 2 litres :money:

Ive noticed in the past that around this time of year prices creep up, then when the serious christmas advertising starts in mid november miraculously all the prices are "slashed!!" and displaying 25% off!!!

Oddly enough they are slashed to what they were originally...

    Call me cynical ;)
