I'm glad that people are trying to think positively. I'm quite furious and sad about the result, but we have to pull ourselves together and try and make it work now. What choice do we have?
    We don't have one now.

As the day has gone on, the feelings of dispair have only grown. Putting my 2 year old to bed was quite surreal in that I wonder what future lies ahead for her and the rest of my family.

I don't often have a lot of time for Will Self as a person (although I enjoy his writing), but he was spot on when interviewed by Channel 4 this evening. Yes, Leave won fair and square (unlike Farage I won't go down the conspiracy route), but those who voted leave need to think about the dramatic effect this decision will have on almost half the people who voted differently to them. If Leave had lost then things would have gone on pretty much as before, so the disappointment on the Leave side would have been much less compared to what we have now with the upheaval those of us on the Remain side are now being put through.

I hope Conrad is right but, like Jon B, I worry for my kids and the fact that we seem to be looking inward when the global economy and the global terror threats mean it is so much better (to my mind) to work together as one unit.
'I want to die peacefully in my sleep, like my father. Not screaming and terrified like his passengers.' (Bob Monkhouse).

    Sky? Believe in better.

Note: win, draw or lose (not 'loose' - opposite of tight!)

trade will continue, the problem for the UK is that the economy might change somewhat that doesnt sound dramatic but it could change the landscape of business and politics in this country and take 20 years to reallocate the economy potentially a long period of sub optimal gdp and gdp growth.

seriously dont worry. at worst the uk will become an italy or spain a 'tier 2' euro country. thats not the best path but its not like they are fighting off zombies and stitching up their own wounds.

even in bad situations there is a spectrum of opportunity and wealth available. simply know that and its enough to make sure you dont end up on the bottom half

The way I see it, what you've done is a bit like tying Usain Bolt's arms to his sides before he runs.

He'll still run a pretty decent race but nothing like as fast as before.

I really hope you are right Conrad, I just worry about a lack of political talent to guide us through the next few years.

Who needs dumb politicians with no real life experience?

Better that politicians have a career in industry, medicine, agriculture, manufacturing, social care etc. Then they would know what they are talking about. What's relevance of GDP the man in the street asks? As that's how detached the world has become. Words without substance.

You watch the media analysis and coverage in the UK tonight and it is wholly negative. Rightly so as well. There is no upside to this result.

Vince Cable just now saying how clever people will be thinking of ways to bring us through this and restore full confidence whereas previously he was a sage of gloom.

Went to listen to him speak at a literary festival last month. Very interesting. Not entirely in tune with his politics. Bought his book though. Interestingly he highlighted that with regards to immigration DC had made a rod for his own back. In both the 2010 and 2015 manifestos. Pledges he could not keep. Cable didn't offer a solution though. Appears to have been spot on though. As DC has fallen on his own sword today.

VC was pro Europe in his book. Though recognised the fault lines.

    yes you are right
the political ruling class and the socio-political elite have learnt nothing (you know the people you have been secretly been worshiping for years whilst pretending to be on the side of the worling people)
still better that walking in the shoes of the IRA

Big business, globalisation may have had it's day. Corporate scandals abound, i.e. VW . Accountability is far too removed.
