I've got pear chutney, apple chutney and mincemeat to do. I have to get some ginger tho, went to Mr.t as a last resort and they didnt have any. May have to go to the market tomorrow afternoon and see.

Has anyone ever made their own preserved ginger??

Happy Birthday Penny Pincher! Hope you've had a good day, you're as old as you feel and I'm 40 next year.

Well after walking the girls and my friend's children to school I actually went to the Gym and almost broke into a sweat!

Then it was off to Asda where I was really jammy (for a change) and found lots of reduced bread, croissant type cakes, panini slices etc.Each packet was reduced to 20p and some of them where over £1 cheaper, just wish I had a bigger freezer. So I used some of the rolls to make garlic bread to go with the ham bol I made for our tea. Unfortunately the girls complained that the bread was too garlicy! We will all reek of garlic in the morning. :rolleyes:

Yesterday we all went to church and we had 3 baptisms and I recognised one of the guests as being Roberto from Big Brother 6 (about 2 years ago). I often wonder what happens to them after they leave. One of last year's housemates, Mickey lives around the corner from me, but he looks like a bit of a poser. I didn't watch this years as it was so bad.
Right I'm off to shower the girls, have a good night.

im going out blackberry picking in the morning, i seem to remember someone saying that they had made blackberry vodka.... can anyone help me please on what to do ect and will it be ready for xmas ?

Hi Loraine,

I made some blakberry vodka on saturday, got the recipe on here somewhere, but can't find it now :rolleyes:
Bacically I bought some kilner jars, and glass bottles with stoppers from lakeland in Chichester (diddn't you go to chi today ? )
I put about half an inch of blackberrys in, then half an inch of sugar, layered up to the top, I then put a split open vanilla pod in each jar, topped up with Mr T value vodka, sealed the lids, and have put them in dark cool cupboard till xmas. I did put the jars through the dw first in high to 'steralise them.
Lets hope it works, we will raise a glass at xmas :beer:

Have been able to dip in and out today but of course can't do anything from work.

Happy Birthday to PenPin. Hope you home help worked out OK. Babys in sling not a problem.

There are a few of you with health issues with hospital appointments, not feeling well etc. Commiserations.

Twink - it must be cold up in the north east - we had to have fans on at work today.

Spoke to Mum in hospital tonight and everything seems to be set for her pacemaker tomorrow. Brother has at last phoned her from the States so pleased about that. Going up on Thursday to see she is OK. DS bringing her out of hospital on Wednesday morning and staying until Thursday.

Things not too good in Fife. They only got an hour's sleep last night!!!! Baby very congested but doctor today said all fine and no medication and he said baby doing really well. DD said he was so wheezy last night and couldn't feed and they were worried about sleeping in case anything happened. I think she may have slight post natal depression as is not coping very well. Two big boys coming here next weekend so hope things get better especially as it is her birthday next Saturday.
