  • Put my notice in for cancellation of everything, signed up for BT to take over the phone and broadband. Just had a phone call offering 50% off my current package (2gb Sky Q and multirole with Box sets) so £31 for TV (£19 boxsets and £12 multiroom). I haven't accepted yet.

We upgraded to full TV package and got 50% off for 12 months.
We would like to upgrade to SkyQ BUT that's on a 18 month contract, so when the 50% is up in 12 months we'll have to pay full wack for 6 months it seems??

Well I did what you did. Renegotiated 50% for 12 months. Went back the next day to upgrade to Q.
No problems and the contract is 12 months.
Perhaps in this scenario you actually keep the original contract.
  • Would appreciate any advice please! Meek mannered middle aged lady here who is rubbish at negotiating!

I have been paying £66 a month for all sky channels, movies and sport, broadband, line rental. Have SKY+. not Q.

My 1st year is up and it goes up to £114!

I am getting 50% off tv as the offer and told to negotiate separately for a discount on broadband/phone line.

I would prefer to keep all channels.

I would prefer to switch to SKY Q.

The best offer I have had is £82.99 per month.......that is all channels, movies and sports, Sky Q box and mini box. No connection/admin charge.

And the possibility if I sign up for that (18 month contract) I might get a wee bit more off broadband/line rental but I have to negotiate that separately.

Can anyone tell me if that is a reasonable offer???

I don't know anyone with Sky so cannot compare with anyone.

Have a similar offer from Virgin with 2 boxes for £81 so thinking this might be the best I can hope for.

Any advice would be great! :T

I am currently still receiving 50% off (expires in December), I contacted Sky yday to try exactly as you have done but they told me different.
They said I could get Sky Q but my current discount can`t be transferred across and the only offers they could give me wouldn`t come close to matching what I`m currently on.

So will need to wait til December til this discount expires and during renegotiation try and get a decent discount including Sky Q!

Def don't need it all. WANT it all!! :D . Housebound quite a lot so tv gets a LOT of watching.

Seriously, losing sports and movies gets me down to about £69 per month but I do watch both quite a lot.

No ides about the bb package, I didn't even realise there were different ones. :o

The full price for bb and phone line is £28.99 of the £114. Previously I was getting £5 off BB and 35% off line rental.

Cancel tv 31 days before the end of your offer and let it go off for the best new offers. Being off for a few days won't hurt (I got to try the catch up service on our tv and watched channels I'd never seen before, so didn't miss being off for two weeks.)

If they want to talk you into a deal (they will possibly for a pathetic offer like 20%), say you are sorry but are on the way out to an appointment you cannot be late for ,so must talk anther time. You could just be firm and just say you are not willing to discuss, but my suggestion is a way out for you.

Why do you want Q ? I don't see any use for it, as I go to bed to sleep and don't need to continue programmes in another, as the pause or record button allows you to go elsewhere and then resume.

If you cancel Q the box has to go back, so you can't use your HD+ box to view free channels as the connection for Sky Q is different,so the old box will no longer work on it.

Don't cancel phone and broadband ,but look round for offers, then go to them asking if they will match or get near. The chances are low as the best deals are tv and that's why I moved, but may go back later this year, depending on offers.

If you decide to move the tv/broadband,don't cancel, but arrange for the new company to sort things about two weeks from the end of your offer as moving takes about that time. (You will be informed by email, when Sky are told of your move.)
  • Just checked my SKY package bill as i noticed that it had increased by ten pounds and noticed that is going to go up in total from 63 pounds to 150 pounds virgin are offering the same deal for 90 which isn't 63 but still better that 150 but thats with the v6 boxes

What do you think my chances are of haggling a good deal with sky

Got free line rental and only need to pay for broadband 10 pound a month

Out of interest did you have to submit your cancellation to obtain this?

Yes and then called everyday to see what deals they can give me, they are time specific so a deal one day may not be the same tomorrow.
