Multiscreen is £12 a month so if it's £43/£63 inclusive of the multiscreen add on then there's the potential for a £29/£49 without. Admittedly the multiscreen could be offered for free though.

My discount period is up on the 2/6 so I'll be putting in my notice soon. Sky Q appeals but while I've no real issue paying for the Silver install as I need the LNB swap the £198 they want as a "fee" for the two Q mini boxes is insulting. They clearly state that "the equipment is provided on loan at no cost" so paying that sum to have the engineer sync the boxes is a joke, even more so when they provide the instructions to do so on their website.

Sky would counter that they're "giving" you the Q box plus the mini box(?) for free, the £12 a month adds up to £216 over the 18 month contract. That's why they charge you £199 if you don't want multiscreen. They're getting the money off you one way or another.

They could offer the whole thing for free but don't hold your breath :)

I was interested in Q the last time I renegotiated but they were the same with me quoting ridiculous prices with no wriggle room. I ended up staying with my HD+ box & Boxsets at 50% discount for a rolling monthly 18 month contract so I'm pretty sure that it was Sky that lost out. If it wasn't for the wife I wouldn't have even taken that.

Ah ok that makes sense, thank you.

I've been back on the Chat to them to clarify the offer and they are now saying £46 a month for a Sky Q 2TB Box, Sky Q Mini box (both free), Sky Entertainment, Box Sets, HD, Cinema and Multiscreen.

If I keep my Sky + HD box, it will be £26 per month for the above, without Multiscreen (but again I would have the issue of only being able to record one programme at a time). Though I guess with the majority being available On Demand, this may not be as big an issue as I thought. I don't think I would use the Q features that much, so I need to figure out whether the additional £20 a month is worth being able to record more than one channel and have the option of Ultra HD.

They again said Sky Q is not compatible with a communal system and as I'm not allowed my own dish, Sky Q isn't available. I have been on the Sky Community forum and it seems it can work with 1 feed, however the communal system upgrade will need to happen first. However no-one I've spoken to so far at Sky seems to know about this, so I think this is going to be a bit of hassle.

Ultimately I just want, Sky 1, Atlantic, Eurosport and Cinema, all in HD and be able to record. Now TV is fine, but I wouldn't get Eurosport and can't record. Also at the moment it is not in Full HD.

Perhaps as most things are on Catch Up now, recording more than one programme isn't as essential, but I am very fussy when it comes to watching in HD.

BT TV is an option I guess to get the recording and Eurosport, but Cinema and the Sky Channels would still be via Now TV.

    Decisions, decisions!

Same as what I got offered above. Seems to be about the best they'll do at the moment.

getting the exact time. not sure i can be arsed with it - world cup in june, premier league over shortly and can survive without england cricket until world cup (especially now BT have away tours)

    must do better sky!

I have been a Sky Customer for 11 years and spoke to Sky on Live Chat today to try and upgrade to a 2TB Sky Q box. I was quoted £30 fee for the box (plus Multiscreen at £12 a month). I only have one TV so that would be a waste of time. The other option given to me was £199 for the same box.

Do you think if I threatened to leave they may offer me the box without multiscreen at the discounted price? I am out of contract.

    Thanks

  • Why not take the 1tb box, the install cost is only £20 for new customers so you should get a better offer than with the 2tb one

We have a 4K tv, so would make sense to upgrade to 2TB box. What benefits would there be for moving to 1TB box?

To get ultra hd you need to be a multiscreen subscriber on a 2tb box....a silly rule but one that sky have insisted on. I don't know if that has changed recently.

They still charge extra for HD and HD for the Sports package so don't hold your breath on that changing any time soon.

I was paying £34 a month for Sky Sports, Skysports HD , Entertainment, Box sets, HD and kids at least that's whats listed.

Contract ran out and it went up to £68.I love my footie and golf so really didn't want to lose it. Also have an OLED TV and to be fair the Sky picture quality is excellent.

Threatened to cancel in online chat and now paying £35 a month for the next 18 months. I appreciate I might have done better if I actually cancelled and went through the whole process as i did last time (for exactly the same result) but I was struggling with people saying the 50% off wasn't happening.....I got it straight off on online chat so took it.
