Virgin Line Rental with weekend calls and Vivid 100Mb internet
Last year's deal that I got - £17/month for the above.
Promotional credit/monthly discounts ended a couple of weeks ago, resulting in a new price of £43/month!
Phoned up and got the same package for £18/month for 12 months.
Good luck to others.
This is a VERY GOOD deal ! How much persuading did you have to do to get this ??0 -
Line Rental Saver with BB - 50 and Phone 24/7 at £19 p/m.
Got this because internet is must due school work for kids.
Seen better from VM couple of years ago.0 -
Crikey looks like I've been done after seeing that
cracking deal, did you refuse the first offer? I was thinking about it but chickened out and took the £23 + 2 months free

I'm a veteran at this - still can't get it for free though.
I think once you get to a consistent price year-after-year then they recognise what kind of deal you're happy with.
This was my first year that I didn't wait for their phone call. Usually I phone up, they offer mediocre deals and I put in my cancellation. A couple of days later I get the phone call.
This year I phone up, expecting the usual average deal to keep me, but the gent on the phone looked at what offer I was in the past and just matched it (albeit 60p per month more expensive).
He basically put 2 promotional offers on my account (one lasts 12 months and the other 18 months) and then he added some credit to my account to make up the shortfall.
Signed up for another 12 months.
I may have got it a little cheaper if I had gone through with cancelling and waiting for the phone call - but I know I'm going to be busy for the next week and that I was unlikely to answer their return call so just went for the above deal.
It's all about being nice, not angry, chatty, but not too chatty and having another deal with another provider to hand in order to use as leverage. I had Vodafone's fibre broadband deal for £20/month as a back up.
Good luck.:grouphug:Official MSE canny forumite and HUKD VIP badge member

Well done, this is what I should have quoted but I got cold feet and bottle it thinking he wouldn't offer anything betteryou live and learn.
Quite happy to have 100meg (free upgrade from 70) for £19 a month though.0 -
Just rang up to cancel my fibre broadband and was quite surprised at the lack of attempts to keep me. Apart from saying she recommended me keeping my package until the end of March as that is when my £7 a month loyalty discount expires and that she couldn't give me any better price (currently paying £33.24 for 200Mbps). Anyone reckon if I will get a call from the outbound retention team or did they just write me off?0

I’m paying about a fiver less than that a month for up to 200mbps, broadband only. Was thinking I wanted to get it down to around 20 per month and I’d even reduce down to upto 100mbps to do so.0 -
Well did the call yesterday, on 100mb @ £35.23 asked why I was leaving told her it was too dear and was tightening my belt and she says I can get it for £32 for 18 months, so tell her that I have been checking up with friends and family and state some of the deals on here and she said Everything except call me a liar that no way do they offer any deals like these, so cancellation in, will wait and see not to bothered after looking at some of the new deals although that will mean a speed drop0

Virgin rang me today after I'd cancelled my broadband on Friday.
Yep more or less same deal as you hpmann, must be a standard deal.
£23 with two months free for 70mb which I accepted, not the greatest deal but happy enough as it means I don't have the hassle now of switching.
I’ve mentioned it before but without Virgin I would be looking at speeds of around 2mb so I’m happy with the deal, but make sure you get confirmation as I had to ring them back twice!! If I hadn’t they would of been charging me £29 a month!!0 -

The CS you spoke to (incoming) will not he able to see the same deals offered by Outbound, so unless they keep up on forums they may not think some of the deals are possible. That said, they should be aware that other parts of VM have access to different deals so should be careful with their tone!0 -
I'm currently on Player TV with 100Mbps broadband, weekend calls and line rental with my contract due to end shortly.
Called today and was offered £36.00 per month on a 12 month contract but the price fixed for 18 months.
Does anyone know if I should be able to do better than this ?0
