Always record them and tell them you are.0 -
Just phoned them again as I didn't get the callback I was promised and got the standard "it will take 72 hours to reconnect me". Of course they had no idea who I had previously spoken to, and no explanation why I had been disconnected. They did promise to refund the disconnection fee "if" I had been wrongly disconnected. Well of course it was wrong otherwise I wouldn't have agreed a new deal!!!0

Hi all,
Given notice today on my virgin package. Currently pay £45 for 50MB BB, Weekend calls and basic TV. This went up from around £25 per month over the last few months of the 12 month contract.
When saying I wish to cancel, I was offered £40 per month for 150MB BB, weekend calls and basic tv.
I've seen some people on here been offered a deal of £33 for 150 MB BB, V6 box and weekend calls. If they offer that (if and when they call) then I will accept.
Is it realistic to think they would phone and offer me that deal?0 -
I've been with Virgin since the early NtlWorld days so over 13 years. Like most the price keeps going up and whenever you call them they are never helpful and try to make out i'm on a great deal but i'm not sure. Even looking at Virgin website the deals after 12 months for new customers are still cheaper than this.
As i work at home and my wife and I stream a LOT of TV i do like Virgin but may have to up to a broadband speed that doesn't throttle me. Still think i'm paying too much now. Think i'm going to cancel.
I've got:
TV - (Player) (Have Sky and only have this as it "makes it cheaper" and is in bedroom for occasional use).
Broadband (SuperFibre 70)
Phone (Talk More International Anytime)
Line Rental
£61 p/m0 -
I currently have broadband only (SuperFibre 70 @ £31.24 pm) and wish to upgrade to a package that includes Sky Sports and BT Sports. Full House Sports is available to new customers for £75pm. Has anyone got a good deal whilst upgrading from broadband to a TV package?0

Currently paying 28.75 ( inc discount ) and when that ends in a couple of weeks time I would be paying 38.75
Gentleman on phoned said he could reduce my plan to 30 pounds a month...at which point I asked him to take my 30 days notice.
See what happens from here
So someone from the locality team phoned me and I said what had happened.
So he said he could reduce my bill to 27.25 a month....from 28.25 not much of a deal I thought.
I asked to be moved down to the 100mbps and see what deals could be done....not much he said as Virgin were offering free upgrades to the 150mbps package from the 100mbps.
Said I'd think about it....he then said I could have the first month free....and I said I'd agree to 2 months free to which he agreed. ( a little to quick I think,.....maybe more was available ? )
So 27.25 for upto 150mbps on a 12 month deal and 2 months free.
I'm happy with that0 -
Just called up to cancel and got offered this immediately
200MB broadband + weekend phone £20
I was on 200MB + Weekend Phone for £27.49 before. I accepted but feel like that is crap deal.
Have to pay line rental saver too...
So really its 200 MB + Weekend Phone for £36.33, crap deal?
How you manage that0 -

Was on tv player, vivid 100, talk anytime £26 Which Expires On 27 July and Jumps to £35.23. (Excludes line rental)Paid upfront line rental saver which expires in December.
Total £51.56
Called June 27 to cancel broadband and tv. Said will keep talk anytime till December as have paid line rental saver till then. Best they could offer was £30 from £35.23 just would not budge.
Got a phone call yesterday saying they could offer tv play, 200mb, anytime calls and line rental for £35. Said I can get it cheaper with bt.
Put me on hold and few mins later came back with £29. I said I have paid for line rental saver up front so will be out of pocket £81.65 as I have 5 months left. He said the best he could do was credit a\c £50.
Line rental, anytime calls, tv player, 200mb =£24.83 for 12 months0 -
Yesterday I called VM to discuss porting my landline number as I had every intention of leaving for the evil Sky empire (due to the cost).
I did mention cancellation but I did not get far as the helpful Scottish lady offered some sweeteners (new V6 and new Superhub 3) but I was not convinced. She asked if she could call me back as she could not offer the Hub and the V6 box totally free until Thursday as new VM promotions started then. A likely story I thought but as I am not in a rush to cancel due to a holiday coming up at the end of August, I thought lets see.
Today I got a call (exactly at the time she said she would call) from her offering £20 off my monthly bill and a free V6 box and a free Superhub 3. As I currently rent three boxes (Tivo, V+ and VHD) I was told the V6 can replace the old VHD box so I will have three recording boxes and not two.
I know it may not be 50% off (it is actually 20% off my monthly bill) but as I had not even got to cancel my services I thought this was pretty good for one call about porting a landline.
It was quite clear to me she knew her stuff and had no intention of loosing my business so I am convinced the kind of offers you get depend on the person you are talking to. Its the only time I have called VM and spoke to someone who knew what they were doing.
It is only a 12 month extension and I was out of contract so that may have counted also.
Good luck with your calls.0
