I never got the call from their retentions team and the account not is still up and running a few weeks later!
Oh lordy, lord. You are in for a world of pain I fear. VM have a different team that handle migrations (keep phone number), they do not communicate with retentions. It was cancelled, then not, as migrations don't show as cancelled, then it was, but they couldn't offer as the number was with migrations, who said it wasn't cancelled... I took it to a formal complaint and weeks to sort out...
I went though this last year, and I hope it goes smoother for you than the countless hours of wasted life to sort it out. Lets just say next time, I will be saying no thanks, don't care about the number.
The upshot was I got Ultimate Volt for £60 and a £100 credit with O2 when I went to cancel my VM related O2 contract...
I've rung them a few times and they assure me that, no, all services will be cancelled at the end of my contract. However, I'm not convinced and will badger them until all services are shown on the Service charge receipt as being subject to cancellation at the end of my contract. As part of that badgering I've sent a complaint via their online web form.
And no, I don't want to leave, and hope retentions will contact me with a decent offer, when, or if, I can sort this problem out.0 -
I was previously paying £25 p/m for Virgin M125 broadband (with Volt speedboost to M250) + phone line (which I don't use but have always been told I had to have). Price was due to go up to £54 p/m at the end of my discount period at the end of July.I called Virgin on Saturday to put in my 30 days notice. I told them that I was going to BRSK which was £28 p/m for 500mbs for 2 years but I could also get a £75 Amazon voucher as a referral bonus from my neighbour which would bring the price down to effectively £25 p/m for 2 years. The Indian guy on the phone spoke to someone else (presumably 2nd level of retentions) but the best he could offer was £30 p/m for Virgin M350. I decided to go through with the cancellation.Received a call this morning from Virgin. I thought that it was a follow-up from my cancellation but actually it turned out it was from their 'loyalty' team who had apparently been calling me over the last month ahead of my contract ending. He was initially unaware that I had put in my cancellation on Saturday but he found it in the notes once I told him. He straight up offered to remove my phone line from the package (apparently they have been receiving a lot of feedback from customers not wanting/needing phone lines) and to give me the same M125 broadband (+ Volt speedboost to M250) for £19 per month for 18 months.I probably could have pushed it further given that the call was from their 'loyalty' team rather than cancellations but I accepted as it is less than I am currently paying and £7 lower than their new customer offer for M125 broadband only (£26 p/m). It still has the cheeky April mid-contract price rise but that will hopefully only bring it up to £22-23 which is what I was paying at the start of my previous 18 month deal.In a way I am glad that it is still possible to haggle with media companies because the regulation that they brought it for gas/electricity and more recently car/house insurance just made things more expensive for customers who were proactive and shopped around. But it is still a bit of a ridiculous that the price for the same product can be 3 times as expensive depending on whether you do a small amount of haggling or not.Anyone have any idea what is their breakeven point for a customer on a basic package like M125 broadband only?1

I received a call from retentions this morning and offered my current package, but at a reduced price of £55.87 (was paying £61.20).
Services I receive are -
M250 broadband
Mega TV with V6 box
Sky Sports + TNT Sports
Telephone Line Rental (Weekend Chatter).
Very happy with the new contract.

Had my letter through a couple of weeks ago, telling me that my contract is ending and my new monthly payment will be £78.
I rang on Friday and explained that £78 was far more than I wanted to pay and what can the do on the price. After being put on hold the chap cam back with £46 a month, still more than I want to pay I told him so I was put on hold again, came back with a price of £39 a month for the exact same package as I had. I know I could of tried for a bit more off, but I'm happy with what I got.SPC 0370 -

Last month we got the same for £33 fixed for 18 months, I think I could have got it lower but was busy with other things.0

Received an email today from Virgin offering a renewal deal of £53 for phone line rental, weekend chatter, and M500 upgraded to Gig1 Fibre Broadband with Volt.I called Virgin, and the first person I spoke to said she could offer me this for £61. I said no, that's more than the online offer, and asked to cancel. I was transferred to retentions in the Philippines and was offered £37 to keep what I have. I asked if it would be cheaper if I removed the landline but was told it would be more expensive. So I declined the £37 offer and gave my notice. Wondering now if I should have taken the last offer.Let's see what happens next.0
