though some people have suggested previously that you don’t get as good offers second time around if you do cancel. I’m pretty surprised that they offered you just the standard price of 51 pounds that’s laughable imo if its only for 250mb.0 -
Well i decided to take the bull by the horns and call the 0203 number posted above since virgin have called just once since i cancelled
i was on 27 quid for 250mb when i put my cancellation in and was pretty happy with the speed
spoke to Daniel and Scottish by the sounds of him i was offered 30 quid for 350mb with mixit and weekend calls etc
i could have got same bb and maxit for 46 quid
i do wish I’d enquired whether i could have got 250mb with maxit for under 40 quid though hmmm
but to recap i agreed on 30 quid for 350mb BB with mixit tv and weekend calls which I’m happy with. Do people think i could have got better ?
what do people think ?

I have just started the VM dance. Oh what a fun little ditty it will be.
They wanted to put up my Ultimate Volt bundle to £136 and some shrapnel... that was a hard pass from me.
I called up and chose the options to cancel, first guy could only offer it for £99, a new customer gets it for £85 so told him that's that's the maximum cost I will accept. No can do, so passed onto another section of retentions, this very helpful chap eventually got the offer to £85, and I was about to accept it, but I have played these games for many years and asked them to reel off exactly what I would get for my money (always good if a dispute so the phone recording has the evidence). Turns out it did have everything included in the Ultimate Volt bundle, expect for one thing, it didn't include the £25 charge for the o2 unlimited sim.
So this means it would have been £85 to VM and £25 to o2, £110 total, ha, caught them out before I accepted! Proceeded to give VM 30 days notice that I am cancelling my contract, checked marketing preferences and contact details...
Looks like my partner doesn't like losing VM so she she's going to sign up herself in her name, legally a totally new customer. Bonus is she nets herself a nice £115 of cashback for a new Ultimate Volt signup at the monthly charge of £85 (£60 VM, £25 o2).
Lets see how the story develops.2 -

Let's see how the story develops.Virgin also do lightening deals, which tend to go live Monday to Wednesday most weeks, offering additional incentives which should stack, such as £200 account credit. You have 30 days, so plenty of time.
I hope this helps. You are in a great position for a better deal.2 -
Suggest your partner does more homework before signing up to a new contract. For example, £179 cashback is available through Quidco Broadband compare (Premium), £206 from TopCashback Broadband Compare (Premium). If you go via Quidco Premium you may aldo be able to use their highest cashback guarantee to get double the difference, so it could be £233.Virgin also do lightening deals, which tend to go live Monday to Wednesday most weeks, offering additional incentives which should stack, such as £200 account credit. Thanks for the great tips.0 -
Received an email today saying my next bill would include a whopping £26.50 increase. I have the Volt Maxit TV deal, 600mbs broadband, two tivo boxes, sky sports. So I went on to WhatsApp and managed to get passed the chat bot. An hour later an agent responded. After 20 minutes of discussion I managed to get the cost back down to what it was before the increase. I had to downgrade the land line, but we never use it anyway and managed to increase the broadband to 1gbs. £96 a month. Probably not a massive bargain but I am happy with no increase.
Kind Regards,

Update:
spoken to retentions 7 days before my disconnection. £23pm for M350 broadband only offered on a new 18 month contract. I didn't haggle or anything (wasn't feeling like risking anything).
I'm pretty happy with that.0
