Yesterday I cancelled my 100Mb broadband and Talk Weekends, which was going up from £24.50 to £52.50 due to discounts ending. Got the call back this evening, offered and accepted £20 on new 18 month contract. Happy with that.
Is that £20.00 a month with No Price Rise in March?

Yes. The price rise doesn't apply.
Dave Thanks for the info. They offered me 100mps Broadband(No Phone Line) for £24.50 after the price rise in March 22. I need to phone them this afternoon to cancel. Once they add another price rise in about 11 months time I will be paying nearly £28.00 a month for 100mps Broadband. Will report back how I get on.

You need to cancel and wait for them to call you. Make sure you're set to receive 'promotional calls' in your online account and that they have your contact details before you cancel. Feel free to private message me if you want.
  • Currently on 200Mbps Broadband, Bigger TV Bundle, Phone Line with Weekend Calls, 5GB Virgin Mobile Sim.  I was paying £52 per month, but called because of the price increase and been offered it for £48 per month for the remainder of my contract (with no price increase either).

Is this a good deal, or do you think there is better available ?

    Thanks in advance

Seems reasonable. Depends how long your contract runs for. You might get better if you give your notice, but then again retentions might not call you. You can always cancel your notice to leave, but only you can decide if it is worth the hassle. No idea what deal you would get if you cancel your notice though.

  • Just called them on the retentions number published yesterday in MSE mail - my current fee of £64 going up by 4.25 per month from 1st of march and then a credit drops off for another £14 22 march- asked if they could do anything to keep the price around where it is now or cheaper - not interested - offered me a immediate £1 increase to £65 then from 1st march £69 pound - explained i cant afford that so will need to leave - just said ok will start the 30 days notice now then - and followed this up with an email confirming disconnection on 20th February...i have been with them and their predecessors for 25 years - didn't seem to make a difference - all previous times they have at least tried to keep me....lets see if any calls happen

You might scrape a few more quid off if you really want to push it. I have 200mbps (O2 Volt boost) Bigger TV and phone for £45. So you're paying £3 a month for that mobile sim on top of what I'm getting. I'm happy enough with my plan. Others have gotten a bit cheaper but I'm happy to get the annual dance over in one call - too busy this year for messing
  • Has anyone had any issues with accepting the automated discount on the phone queue removing their other discounts ? - A family member had that issue about a year ago, but not sure whether that issue still exists.

Sorry can't answer that but how do you get that option please?

I believe it is random after you have been on hold in the queue for a certain amount of time for cancellations.

I got it after selecting the cancellation option, twice while In the queue. The human I eventually got couldn't even match the £3 the robot offered and said you only get that offer once. So I gave notice to cancel. They screwed that up and I had to call again - got the £3 offer again!
Anyway, retentions called me back and retained me with something better than £3 off for 6 months.

I’m currently on a new customer deal of £53/month for M350 Maxit TV + Movies and Talk Weekend. My contract is coming to an end and I’m wondering if VM are likely to offer me anything remotely
similar to that through retentions. Anyone had any experience with a similar new customer package? The price hike is normally huge so not sure whether it’s worth the hassle.
