Virgin Media retention deals (post your haggling successes)

CrocodileHamilton wrote: »Hi looking for advice and opinions, I currently have a 12m contract ending in September.
My setup is 1 V6 box with full tv package Entertainment, Cinema and Sports but do not have Sports in HD. I have 100mbps broadband and just talk wkends which tbh I don’t need and never want. I pay £88.75 which looking at some posts feels too much. I have been with virgin for 9 years and I know loyalty doesn’t count really these days. But in all honesty I have never had a major issue with service and I do a lot of online gaming.
I’m mainly asking as I am struggling financially and realise it’s a luxury but with my mental health issues I try to keep it.
Any haggling or deals know of - basically any information is so welcome thanks
Since you're still in minimum term for around 4 months all you can do is ask them. I don't know if cinema or sports is 30 days notice or not but if they are you could remove them, anything else will be down to Virgins goodwill. Just tell them that you've had a change of circumstance (don't elaborate, they don't need or want the full story) and are struggling financially, be polite at all times.0 -
Apologies if this has been asked elsewhere - I couldn't see it anywhere.
I cancelled with Virgin Media last week - TV, phone and broadband. I'm not sure who to go with now so I wondered if anyone had experience with this. Will Virgin call me back to try to convince me to stay?0 -

So you gave your notice ?
I could be wrong but your service will continue, you have I believe 30 days to move to a new supplier, if you don't move by then then your services will carry on.0 -
No, if you give notice 30 days Virgin will cut the service off. It's not like a mobile contract where it will just go on if you do not move to another provider.
They might contact you OP but reading other posts Sky has stopped trying to keep their customers and just letting them go.0 -

You're thinking about requesting a PAC for a mobile phone, not applicable at all for TV or broadband.
@Catt1010, they may or may not phone back, there's no guarantee I'm afraid.
You can set up Sky (for instance) and another BB supplier at any time as Virgins system is totally independent. You may lose your home phone number if it's important to you BTW.0 -
sign up elsewhere (e.g nowtv gets my vote), and requesting your phone number is transferred over, makes virgin believe you are serious.
try and Start the sign up process and see if you have fibre where you are.
That will help you choose!0 -

Yes, sorry, I've given my notice and they've cancelled my services, but they're still running for another couple of weeks. I was just wondering if I could expect a call from them to try to get me to stay with them.
I'm currently evaluating my options for who can offer me the best deal elsewhere. Home phone number is completely unimportant as we never use it. We don't even have a phone plugged in.0 -

Give them a call back yourself (ask for retentions) and tell them you're just about to sign up to Sky (it'll take a couple of weeks to set up regardless) and you just want to see if there's any deal you'd be interested in before you do.0 -
