I cancelled almost 2 weeks ago and no sign of a callback from retentions at all. Have they given up? - can't get sky fibre either which is a shame.
I cancelled on 19th missed 2 call backs so far which is annoying - one last Thursday and one yesterday.
As time goes on though I relalise there are better offers out there so will have to see what they offer.

My contract end on the 19th Sept.
    Feb £22,608, Weight 18st, 2 x cards, 2 x loans.

    Just called VM.

    Currently on Medium TV
    50 MB broadband
    Phone which I don't use for £67/month

Called and said that I was thinking of cancelling as it's too expensive.

    He offered:

    Tivo Box
    100MB Broadband with new router
Big fun bundle for £61.50 per month.

I said I would think about it and call back.

    Is this good enough?

    We have

    TV M - with Tivo
    50Mb BB
phone XL - with multi-talk which includes mobiles calls, caller ID etc

    £30 including line rental

so your original deal was terrible. As for the new one - its better but I suspect you could much better by speaking to sky. Also I find that starting the cancellation process triggers the best deals once you get a call from the retention team.

I have BB 70Mb (their lowest) and phone M (I have no phone), cheaper at time than BB alone. My new increase would be £41.50.

What would be my ideal offer from them just for BB?

On Monday evening had my call from Ted in (Virgin retentions / leaving team or whatever it’s called) he discussed options for me to stay! I said I would like to discuss it with the family and he promised to phone me back at 5.00pm on Wednesday … of course Wednesday came and went and no call!!

Last night I received a call from Chris in the same department, explained I had spoken to Ted and was awaiting a call from him, he said there were no notes on my account of any conversation. He put a message through to Ted who then rang me.

As Ted was on another call on Wednesday my call back was overridden, he also asked me what he had offered as he had not made any notes of our conversation!!

He had offered the package we currently have which is M+ tv, SuperFibre 70, talk unlimited and line rental for £30 per month (12 month contract) and after putting me on hold to speak with his is supervisor he also offered free line rental for 12 months (I have notes of the conversation). His reply to this was ``can`t offer you anything like that``!! so I ended the call.

Makes me wonder if I had agreed to something on Monday what I would have ended up paying as it seems they want to make it up as they go along. How do Virgin run a company, they don`t seem to know their a**** from their elbow! Surely notes should have been made, they are quick enough to tell you calls are recorded so why then are they too lazy to go back and check the call details?

I am absolutely gob smacked that they feel they are so superior they can treat us who pay their wages in this appalling manner, they ring us up to try and retain our custom yet can`t even remember the call! Sorry rant over, thanks for listening.

So hey ho hey ho it’s off to Sky we go, I hope I can get as good a deal as some of you have had. :j

My new contract was sent to me and it was different to what has been agreed on the phone. They sent a new one... then my bill came through it was missing my £8 loyalty bonus. They used to be very good but very disorganised now.

    I'm now paying £52.99 for:
    M+ TV inc Tivo box
Talk More Anytime (inc all calls inc mobiles, 08 numbers, caller ID, caller display, itemised billing)
100Mb Vivid BB inc Superhub 3

After line rental saver it works out at £49.83. It's not the greatest deal in the world but I think you have to do threaten to leave, cancel and wait until a week before to get the deals above really.

I`ve done the threaten to leave, am on 30 days notice (I leave on 29 Sept) have had the call to keep me (but no notes were made on my account and the bloke 2 days later denied saying it and more or less said I was a liar!!), have just finished a webchat with nice guy who could not get anywhere close to what I was offered on Monday. So I have now lost all faith in Virgin and even though I am sure Sky must have their own horror stories am sure I can get a better and cheaper package than we had through Virgin.
  • Missed about 5 calls so far and only a week to cancellation
