Hello everyone, roller coaster week! Had my operation on Tuesday, I was first down at 9am which was so good and all went well. I was home by Wednesday lunchtime and tucked up in bed.

Since then it's just been sleeping, slowly getting more mobile and taking things slow.

My builder messaged me the day of my operation to see if he could start the kitchen on Wednesday 14th June. After discussion with my partner we decided he might as well go ahead. I'm upstairs away from it all so it won't really affect me. But my lovely partner has been left to empty the kitchen and sort everything out - he's a diamond.

Glad things went well. Just you take the time you need to recover. Good news with the kitchen too, you'll be glad when it's finished.

Haven't been on here for ages! It's chaos in my house. We had 5 days of people ripping out the kitchen, making holes for the electrics and sorting out the plumbing etc and now we have plasterers in. Hopefully the plaster should be dry by Monday then the kitchen guys will be back to paint and start fitting the kitchen and second fix electrics.

After that the flooring guy needs to lay the floor in the kitchen and hall. Everything is costed out and I've either borrowed (at 0%) or used savings to pay for it. It's still costing me £12k though which I plan to pay off over the next 18 months. It's a lot of money but needed doing desperately. My parents debt is almost paid off which frees up £300 a month plus my partner is giving me rent so I'm about £800 a month better off from August.

Health wise I'm feeling ok. Still finding it hard to walk very fast - which I hate but I'm slowly getting there, it's only been 2 weeks and my GP says I'm expecting too much too soon.

Can't wait to enjoy my new kitchen though - so exciting!

So it's just over 12 months since I had my LBM!

    I've achieved so much
Paid off my £500 overdraft and have kept out of it since
    Paid £5k off my CC
Paid £6k back to my parents
    Saved £2k towards my kitchen

I've kept CC spending to a minimum and by using YNAB I've kept to a budget,

I now have additional debt because of my kitchen BUT I have no additional debt, it will increase the value of my house AND it's all on 0% finance.

    Life is good!
  • Oh my goodness I didn't know you had paid so much off in so little time!! Well done, that's amazing!! Shows in can be done aswell as having a life! Hope you're feeling better xxx
    Starting debt £18,675.63
    Current debt: £5,000 (16/05/18)

To be fair I've been paying my parents off for over 2 years since I moved in 2015.

But the rest is correct. I've not bought myself much during this time. Started shopping at Aldi and really sticking to a budget has helped no end.

My issue now is I will have no savings (apart from Christmas savings) once I've paid the builder and electrician so I need to start building that up again.
