Neither of us sleep very well at sea so having a properly dark cabin would help greatly - I've not persuaded OH yet.

But we actually spend so little time actually in the cabins now its very hard to justify the cost difference between an inside and an outside.

But if you are doing a scenic cruise eg Norway when you start sailing up fjords very early in the morning then you really do need an outside :)

True, when we cruised the Nile (didn't really count it as a cruise as such, more transport between different places) we spend ages on the balcony just watching, went up top when we went through the Aswan Dam though, early but worthwhile, and not as early as some of the temple trips!!

Just been looking at the menu

On the breakfast menu breakfasts are £5.95 (or £3.95 for the lighter version) or their is a grande version for £9.95 which we have had before which is plenty for 2 to share - bottomless tea or coffee is £1.95 - so not much real money to pay depending on your choices

Looking at the lunch menu you would need to have the new app on everyones phones.
Lunches are £6.95 with starters or desserts for £2.50 and squash is bottomless for £2.75 so again a little bit of real money
and you would need to tell the waitress about separate bills before you ordered.

I've talked myself into this if it can be used on a Saturday :rotfl:
    Just had my voucher through...

Never been with them. Dont think they have balconys though, and I do like a balcony.

Oh Chris....dont know what to do now, cant believe they have loads in now :rotfl:
    Gggrrrrrr!!

I am very surprised that you have not investigated Fred Olsen. In 2018 summer - mostly April to October Balmoral is running from South Shields - they do little 5 day trips ( a bit easier to fit in with work, petsitters, childsitters etc) to Norway which are good for a first timer to try Fred Olsen.
Also saves the long trip down to Southampton plus the cost of the night before hotel and dinner etc

And Fred Olsen have their famous £15 a night all inclusive drinks package as well :D
