A friend has just come back from a cruise to the Caribbean with Thomsons. The ship was relatively new so cabins were better than others that she'd been on but the food and entertainment were not up to scratch. Captain said it was 'teething' problems.0 -

Oh and, DM, Fred Olsen do have balconies. We chose to have an inside cabin last time because we did not wish to be woken by the sun. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

balconies are very much mixed blessings I think - people above and below scrapping chairs back and too, sliding doors slamming open and shut.
One occasion we were sat outside in port, enjoying a bit of sunshine and the Spanish couple next door were holding a very vigorous conversation with their loved ones back home at full volume :rotfl:
And the first time we ever had a balcony we looked out and the couple a few floors down were enjoying a sunbath in their underwear ...
and then there are the rule floating smokers ...“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Every day will allow you, --will invite you to add something to the pleasure of others, --or to diminish something of their pains.”0 -

When we were cruising the Canaries (only cruise we have been on so far, did it to shut up our travel agent and as we could not decide where to go lol) we had someone join us at a strange place because they could not stand their Thomsons one anymore, they had apparently had turkey for about 5 nights in a row, they said the food was not a patch on ours. Have to say the food was very good on ours. We were on a Fred Olsen ship and enjoyed the fact we were on a smaller ship.balconies are very much mixed blessings I think - people above and below scrapping chairs back and too, sliding doors slamming open and shut.

We heard a lot of stories like that, think if we go again we will stick to an inside cabin, liked the fact it was truly dark (apart from the door) and if we want to go outside we can go outside! What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

Neither of us sleep very well at sea so having a properly dark cabin would help greatly - I've not persuaded OH yet.
But we actually spend so little time actually in the cabins now its very hard to justify the cost difference between an inside and an outside.
But if you are doing a scenic cruise eg Norway when you start sailing up fjords very early in the morning then you really do need an outside“Create all the happiness you are able to create; remove all the misery you are able to remove. Good morning everyone
Well I have took the plunge, and have done my first c&c for DD to pick up, for sharpies, hope it works, if it does I will use the APG to get cleaning and washing products for her new house
Just want to say a BIG THANKS to the OP who found this glitchI, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn't arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and I'm going to be happy in it.
