T bank also did a full page advert in our local paper saying the 3% was guaranteed until 1st April 2019.

It does seem they underestimated how popular it would be (or rather is - it is not new, it has been this rate for ages, so must have been the worst kept secret from muggles). They have spent all that money on extra advertising when they could have saved their money, put out the press release (new information is their commitment to this rate until April 2019 ) and relied on MSE and other sites to push it for free.

I don't know if this is going to work or not.

My original TSB current stopped paying the cashback for spending £100 on contactless each month

So when the new switching offer was announced I switched a spare nationwide one which already had 2 direct debits in operation, two of the Tesco savers. The switch went through as did the normal monthly DDs.

I've now made the new TSB a joint account with OH. We had to go into branch to do this which was a bit faff as in our local TSB the person who does this does not work afternoons  and my OH does entire days. In all it took 10 days to get an appointment - (the earlier one was a lunch time appointment on the 7th so we had to accept the 10th as it was slightly later).
So I've funded this account now for this month, just got to set up a monthly saver if the system will let me

And also the standing orders to put money in and take it out again less an amount for the monthly saver.

Will it let me do this, set up a new monthly saver from the new joint TSB as I've already got one attached to my personal TSB?.

I ought to write a letter of complaint as well to TSB HQ as waiting 10 days for an appointment is ridiculous

So that's as far as we have been today to the big Sada on the hill, the infamous D road seems to have been dusted with snow overnight.
(This Sada always intimidates me as I know there are thousands of MSE living within a 10 miles radius of this store including those that lurk on this thread so I feel I am invading their territory)
Collecting some cashbook items for COS and shopimummy.

Then to big shiny newish M&S next door to do a return and visit the caf!.

I am still part of the long defunct Marks premier club and part of its benefits include a birthday voucher worth £10 for afternoon tea in the caf! :j It arrives In January but I hang onto it until somewhere between mine and OHs birthday in March so its a joint outing. Over the years we have had lovely afternoon teas in York, Liverpool etc

Now sadly like everything else in the interests of economy it has been devalued. We still get 4 sandwiches between us and 2 scones and 2 pots of tea but NO CAKE anymore :(
Even though the leaflet that comes with clearly shows a cake selection, a blatant piece of mis -selling

Still on a miserable day in February its still a nice treat, sadly before long it will disappear altogether like all the other good offers ...

    Good afternoon.

This is a sad story about an amazing dress. But absolutely beautiful wedding photos and so natural.

    Just updated my sig

Doing very well for NSDs - 7 out of the 10 days so far :j

eBay started OK, but I need to get more items on next week :D

Frugal groceries - big jump today with a £35.69 spend in Farmfoods but stocked up with lots of frozen veg, vegan sausages and drinks. But guess who forgot to take a £2.50 off £25 moc with her. Never gave it a thought :o

I am very impressed with the 7 NSDs - I really think these are a crucial factor in constraining the budget
Unless we are on holiday and/or OH is doing horrible long days then I can usually only do 3 or 4 days in a row. The various free cashback items are great because they mean you have been out and into shops, spent something but the money goes straight back in so it does not count :)

With the long days OH has been doing this weeks big Aldi shop didn't get done until Wednesday so it meant we ran out of a few things and I had to get inventive with the contents of the fridge/freezer/store cupboards. This might also be a useful strategy, to delay doing the big shop for basics until things really get desperate - every 10 days or 2 weeks instead of weekly. Some items you need to get 2 of but some will stretch or might not really be essentials eg if the biscuits run out its not a tragedy do without - so you wont be spending quite as much as you would doing it weekly.
Id rather be pottering around the kitchen for an hour delving into the whatever lurks in the freezer or making a batch of cookie dough rather than spending an extra hour out in the cold going to shops with the aggravations of car parks and tills and over heated noisy shops etc ...

I've wondered about trying to get back into selling on Ebay so last Sunday I listed 3 dresses - one new and 2 almost. The new one is being ignored, one Boden dress has had views but no body watching - I want to sell this one as I've seen the exact same one in a more generous size so I was hoping to sell my size 12 first.

The 3rd dress has 5 watchers so I have high hopes of this one going.

What kind of things do you sell 3Dogs? I've got very disenchanted with eBay as nine times out of ten, when I do put anything on it doesn't sell.

December I mainly sold Slimming World books, which sold well. January I sold a few items we found in back of shed from when we did flea markets such as vintage metal toys, old pipes. This month I am onto china/pottery as in crockery, plus I got £17 for a gorgeous Shetland Pony figure I bought for £2 :j

mhoc, how are you doing in decluttering the house?

OO that is a good question.
I had a big purge at the start of the week but it slowed to very little by Thursday, really I sould have been further along as the calender was clear this week and OH has been doing long days so there wasnt much in the way of distractions.
I was concerntrating on seeing what could be done with the toiletry stash so some odds and ends went on the fire, some plastics went into the recycling basket and Ive got one very big bag of assorted going into the food bank collection tommorow.
I think this might be a weekly rinse and repeat job.
The underwear drawer was also turned out again and another dozen are bagged and ready for the cloth recycling. I came to the conclusion this week that life is better with undies one size too big rather than one size too small :)
No more books have been listed on Amazon and none sold but Ive got 3 dresses listed on ebay which will hopefully kickstart me into more wardrobe sorting.
I also filled a bric a brac box for the charity shop on Tuesday - where we got for our free Neros 02 hot choc is right opposite a Heart Foundation shop so its ideal for dropping things off but mainly this shop has big shelves for bric a brac
And then apart from desk tidying thsts about it this week

Next week Ive got the big box of old statements to plough through and mostly shred - the same box that has been hanging about for months
More toiletry sorting and more bric a brac box filling as usual.
It feels a bit like nibbling around the edges but I keep thinking about the bigger picture and where we will be up to by this time next year.

There was a very funny bit on twitter a few days ago which badically said You might have kond'd every bit of your life but then you go to your parents and see they have hung onto every single tiny bit of your childhood - various photos of the biarrare things parents have hung onto eg the very first iphone with no charger, battery quite not dead etc ...

Regarding ebay Ive been starting listings using the app on the ipad so I can do the title, photos and descriptions and I then save the draft to finish off on the msin computer, just to tidy up before listing.

On the ipad app though I cant set the timer thingy to delay the start of the auction, it just wizzes backwards again.
It also has the date wrong - apparently we are in 1970 sometime :D:D
Is there anything I can do about this?

on the ipad if I delay that start there is no extra fee but on the main computer there is - or have i got this wrong as well?
