    Be grateful for any suggestions

About a year ago our council changed the recycling again and gave us a kitchen caddy... and about 200 biodegradeable liners on a rool, I think about 6l?

So we are now running out of liners and I was pretty shocked to find they aeem to be 11p+ each from the supermarkets for 20 packs. I can't beleive the council paid that much if they handed out 200 to every household so does anyone know where to get them in bulk at sensible prices?

What about popping into the council offices to see if they give free ones out... out council gives poo bags out for free!

I had to pay too, out of holiday jobs. :(

And also from age 16, I was only allowed to go anywhere provided I could get myself home. Mine did not do lifts or taxi me anywhere. The very idea!

Paid for my own wedding, paid for my own divorce too. :D

They did some babysitting for me to go to work, but only for work purposes, never ever for social reasons. And when my dad retired, he announced he wasn't spending his retirement child-minding so that ended that.

Then the demands began (in the name of duty) to see to them in their old age.

Seren, this makes me so sad. I know not all families are the same but coming from a very close family, dads taxi to take me to the disco and there get is at the end of the night. It doesn't seem right to allow your child out, even at 16 and make them find their own way home. I just don't understand it :o
There's no place like home :)

Feeling down? Weak in body? Makes no difference to me, I think of you all when I'm sitting quietly.

Hugs and healing thoughts are always going your way.

We have the kitchen caddies but they never gave us any liners. We use newspaper or kitchen roll but then it all ends up in the compost anyway

Have a look on your local councils website - ours lists where you can buy stuff like garden waste sacks - I just checked and it has a list of where we could buy compostible food bin liners too. Google your local council recycling and see if it brings up anything

This makes me realise how well off we were as kids. We had all we wanted, private school for me then when we left school we were never asked to pay board. I never helped my mother clean, washup, laundry etc, she never asked or told me to do I and I never thought to do it.

It was only when I left home firstly at 19 that I paid my way for a year before returning home for a while. At the time my parents were in business and very confortably off money wise and they could afford to make these sacrifices. When I think now about it I do realise how lucky we were, and unfortunately to a certain extent I've been the same with my boys. I am treating it as early inheritance though, is that wrong of me, us I mean?

as for board money we've only ever asked for £30 a week, DS4 though working doesn't always pay up unless asked for it, now that annoys me. Where the dickens could he live for £30 a week? This includes his laundry and feeding dgf when she is here, In reality that amount of money would be gone in a couple of days for food for the 2 of them

And that is what I want my kids to be able to reflect on their childhood/time with parents. Children should feel that they have had the best childhood and start into adult life as is feasibly possible. It is amazing how when they go into the big world that they realise just how good they had it.

I know I moan on here about DS3 not paying board, but in reality he is he least dependent and most financially/practically independent child of the three of them... so if feels wrong that I would penalise him for this.

I should acknowledge that my parents were rather wealthy, numerous holidays abroad, new cars every year. When dad died, he had not signed his will so I dealt with the paperwork. He had £200,000 in his bank account when I raised it with mum she said that she had divided the money equally (we had been paying for a daily carer to go to the house as she was demanding of DS3 and said she had no money)

I dont have to use them but have seen them wilkos and homebargains dont know how much they were though, sorry.
Thanks all. Found some on ebay from about 5p/bag in bulk. We did try begging the council for more but they don't hand out any more apparently :( Getting DW to recycle at all is a bit of a struggle so I fear newspaper is likely to be a non- starter.
    I think....

We never got lifts anywhere when young coz parents didn't have a car, they couldn't drive and wouldn't have been able to afford a car anyway. It was up to us to get where we were going, to friends, out for the night, etc, and to get home. We mainly walked or when going to the Toon, we used the buses

If you want to bulk buy try caddylinersdirect.co.uk starting price from 5.3p
