My Brother 100% lives by that rule. "I could die tomorrow, I might as well have the cars/holidays/things I want now" and, to give his determination to always be right credit, he did almost randomly die on us :o Downside of that is his partner would have been left up sh*t creek without a paddle.

To be fair we're with my BIL in England on his actual birthday so going away for celebrations is possibly overkill. I just want a holiday, it's been 3 years this Summer since we were away for more than a weekend.

He did! They moved back to England the summer I was pregnant, he got his Visa the Summer after O was born (only remember dates by O's milestones now :o) We're hoping to hire one of those big American RV's one Summer and do a road trip when they've started popping out kids of their own so that's something to look forward to!

That sounds brilliant, would love to do that. Mum and dad are buying us a 'big' holiday for this year and next year's Christmas and birthday presents combined, so we're planning to do a mini road trip probably just Miami to Nashville with a few days in various places in between.

Interesting to read this, I would have done so many things differently in my 20s. Losing Leo when I was 32 made me regret the big trips, instead I would have started a family earlier. That is actually my biggest regret of all.

I have been thinking about the holiday this year. I think we might do Lake Balaton over the summer and many day trips beforehand and I would like to do a road trip around Poland with Little Kavics to see the amazing places her dad took me and also visit his grave. We didn't go in 2017 so it is time. Not sure whether new guy wants to join us or we just go without him.

It definitely put things into perspective in a whole new way. After what happened with my Brother we took out life insurance and salary protection. You kind of float through life a little thinking the bad things happen to other people and you're personally untouchable. We're a lot more determined to be in a stable place financially where as before we were 50/50. Getting rid of this loan will open so many doors for us in terms of our home life, need to keep the end game in mind and not get distracted by holidays

Love the idea of a road trip, Kavics :) Be nice for you and mini Kavics to have that time alone together if the new guy doesn't go with you. How is she settling recently?

She is much better, thanks. She loves him but still finds it hard to show it to him. There are glimpses though, on Monday night he arrived just after I put her to bed and she excitedly shouted his name to come into her bedroom as she wanted to sing her a new song. She also wakes him up in the mornings with a tickle and a cuddle. We are talking about moving in together in the near future though it still scares me.

Went to view a business premises today, looks really promising, I'm a bit scared to sign into a 2 year lease if I'm honest, it's a big commitment, but if I don't I'm worried that while I play it safe I'm going to loose the lead I have in such a niche, I've seen it happen in my area several times, having a more streamlined timetable, able to put more classes on without working extra hours, able to rent out the space when I'm not using it would be amazing.

Interesting you should say that Kavics as I do sometimes wonder if I missed out by having Poppy quite young but i figure i can do my holidays etc later. Glad things are going OK with the new man and mini Kavics is getting there with him.

We are doing a couple of smaller trips this year - Lake District next week and Cornwall in Aug. Girls are going to Spain with their dad to visit their Great Nan too, lucky things!

Sounds like a big decision Dinah on the business property but i'm sure you will make the right choice.

I don't think you have missed out on anything. I guess the reason I am feeling this way is because I never got to experience the traditional family set up. My chances of having another baby are quite low although I always wanted at least 3. I am 39 this year and quite frankly dead scared of the thought of trying for a baby but not happening. I have accepted that mini Kavics might be an only child but new guy wants to child(ren) of his own too.
