Well we've had a few days of it - DD has been proper poorly - think it has been caused by the MMR vacine which she had 10 days ago - I think she basically has had measles. Think we have turned the corner now, but not before she's ruined me through lack of sleep!
Off on holiday next week. Need to get organised over the weekend and also clear 600+ emails in my inbox so I can 'pretend' I am on top of everything at work. Actually have loads to do so going to do a list:- [STRIKE]Submit DH Tax return & make first payments - we're having to pay last year's tax and half of this years, so a lot more than expected - but as we are not paying nursery this month I can chuck £300 at it, and also we've saved 2 months worth of payments so nearly wiping out a third - Return submitted, but money not paid - in a saving pot ready to go. Had sudden fear about emptying that much cash out of the bank! [/STRIKE]
[[STRIKE]*]Do those final work tasks and blitz inbox with my deletey finger[/STRIKE] did all tasks, but only got emails down to 400 - still it was 800 at start of week! - [STRIKE]Washing, washing and more washing[/STRIKE]
- Sort out camping kit and pack it the night BEFORE so we can leave early Monday - nearly there
[STRIKE] - Make DMP payments (even though none of them have got back to me to say they have accepted my DMP offers!!)[/STRIKE]
- Meal plan and shopping list for holiday as we'll shop on our way down
- [STRIKE]Clean bathrooms, change beds [/STRIKE]and hoover and mop - want to come back to a sparkly house
[*[STRIKE]]Sort out In laws wedding anniversary gift[/STRIKE] - collapse if I achieve it all......

:money:Totes amazeballs. The rare-ish book I had that I didn't know about has been listed on ebay for last few weeks and it has just sold - for £100!!!!! Back to earth with a bump today - 2 of 3 creditors have written to accept my payment offer and confirm they have stopped interest and charges - but the letters are mildly threatening about how it will affect my credit rating, my ability to get a mortgage and even to get a job!!
It's depressed me frankly. I feel like I may be making a huge mistake. Have posted in the DMP forum as I am seeking reassurance - some days are just tough.
I think it's all the future unknowns - like it's OK to ruin my credit rating now but what if in the future I need it, and it affects what we can / can't do.
Going to get busy with all my chores and try not to fret. At least i am making progress with thatThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hope you can get some good advice with those letters. There are lots of good minds on here. And I think a lot of similar anxietys. Hopefully someone will be able to get you some helpful answers. Its hard when you worry about making the wrong decision, I think you're doing the right thing in getting help from others. Sending you hugs and warm thoughts.xxx2017- 5 credit cards plus loan

That's so harsh to send nasty letters like that! You've informed them your struggling and have acted on this before it got to bad. Ignore then they are just annoyed they can't keep earning interest and charges off you to pay for their yachts and fancy champaign!! You already own your house right? And have a good job? The only jobs I know that search your credit file are ones in finance. You'll be a lot better off once it's all paid off and it'll be done a lot sooner without all their extra charges. Ahh thanks HR, and PSL - you are both lovely.
We're sorted for now - but we may have to move and then we may find ourselves in a bit of a pickle...but I guess there's no sense worrying about something which may not come to pass. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I don't pretend to know how this works but isn't it reasonable that your bank would be supportive of a house move if they are happy to have provided you with a mortgage which you are paying. Then a bigger mortgage is surely just a small step.
I don't know if this helps, but I had a chat with my bank a few weeks ago just before I paid out for my home improvements, before all the panic and poverty and I spoke to a very nice young man who was really reasonable and honestly helpful. If im allowed to say it was hsbc and it made a massive difference to put a real human face to a potentially scary faceless corporation. If you feel comfortable it might be worth approaching the bank and see what they think. I honestly cant tell you how much better it made me feel talking over my finances with him. And I've got his card if I need to talk anything over in the future. I genuinely felt like they were there to help rather than hinder.
(incidentally his advice for me was don't take out any more credit)2017- 5 credit cards plus loan

Hi PSL - probably a good idea - our mortgage company is a bit a root of the problem - when we bought the house it needed everything doing to it - had been empty for years and last decorated in the 70's - we've had to do everything, bathrooms, kitchen, ceilings, floors, heating etc. About 75% there now...when we got the mortgage they refused to lend us more money (even though we could afford to pay more) so we used an inheritance and sale of some land to fund it - sad thing is, we already had £10K CC debt when we bought the house- and then as it has cost more money than we had, and I've had a years mat leave, things have just got worse. When I last tried talking to them they told me that I had to wait to do anything until our fixed rate was up (Mar 17)....our bank is actually quite good, and when we went to see them about a loan to try and consolidate, they couldn't help us, but were nice to talk to. I think at some point we will sell (family reasons may make us move) and clear the remainder of the debts that way...but it's a shame as if mortgage co had helped us out to begin with, we wouldn't be here now. We do have a lot of equity in the house - that's one positive - we bought it for £132K, mortgage is £115K but next door sold for £180K, and we've probably invested 25K...so all in all, it will have been worth it. Hey ho.
Cracking on with all my pre-holiday jobs - got loads done - I don't think we have ever been so organised! Have been a bit inspired by the Fly Lady thread on old style money saving! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. That's an enviable amount of equity. Things do change and this loan to value ratio does make a difference. I hope you are not worrying too much. It will honestly be ok in the end. (and you know how it goes if its not ok its not the end).
I hope you enjoy your holiday as well. Could do with some of your fresh air myself. One thing I love about being in your part of the world is that you can see the starts at night time. Its so phenomenal when you're not used to it. Sending you hugs and de-stressing vibes. xxx2017- 5 credit cards plus loan
