Thanks PSL. It was definitely for the best but it's very odd her not being here. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

We've got an overgrown hairy hound. We also lost a dog last year so house is starting to feel a bit empty. Don't think we will get another cat at the moment, DH really not fussed about them - he came along after I already had my cat and given our finances at the moment, it will actually help us just to go down to one animal. My DD is still only tiny - she's 15 months, so who knows, if she asks DH for a kitten at some point, it will be interesting to see if he caves in!
It will be easier to go away too. DH wants chickens again (we used to have them) but I'm resisting at the mo, as if we go visit grandparents, asking someone to look after chickens is even more of a pain than having a cat!
Will miss my kitty cat cuddles though! The Hound just doesn't know how to cuddle!
Got a nice "treat" day lined up - meeting up with the girls from my NCT class for lunch without children! Feel a bit quilty about spending money on me, but DH really wants me to go. We've got some money in the budget for it, so it's fine. This journey makes you question EVERYTHING!
Did my work expenses this morning and I've got £147 owing! great news, so will have to send that off ASAP - hopefully I can chuck a bit of that back into my petrol budget as it is looking a bit low, and then start my emergency fund. Well hello.
Just spent a FUN evening doing husbands tax return - all going fine - coming in around what we would normally expect - but because they are making us pay NICS both at same time due to a process change (previously we paid class2 by monthly d/d), this has pushed up the amount he owes to over £1K - and the stinger in that tale - is that because it's now over £1k, they also want us to pay an advance payment on this years tax bill at the same time - so basically a third more than we were expecting!! I know it will get us ahead....but seriously - why now?!!!!!
I've posted on the tax section of MSE to have a moan and see if there's anything else we can do....but I suspect not.

Im not telling you what to do, only you know what is best for you but please do go on your treat day. You deserve some pampering and stress relief. Life can be so gruelling and you need some things that make you feel good and clear your head. It sounds like you're working so hard taking care of everything. Think it will do you good to be taken care of. xxxx2017- 5 credit cards plus loan

Thanks PSL - it does feel like a bit of a grind at the moment. We've got a holiday coming up for the last week in July so I just have to survive until then...My mum is coming down this weekend though so that will be lovely and we will definitely do something nice with her one of the days (cream tea - yum yum!)
Despite it being a bit of a relentless week, I'm feeling positive which is not to be sniffed at.
So here's a round up of everything that is just great in my world.
8 NSD's this far out of a planned 20 - looking good!
£77 ish left of our food budget for the month which looks totally manageable. In Mar / Apr / May we spent closer to £400, so to drop to £250/month so quickly is AMAZEballs. Pat on back, take a bow, thank you.
Strawberries and blueberries from the garden in abundance. New poly tunnel up and filled up already. Loads of redcurrants and blackcurrants to pick at the weekend so will be making jelly and squash.
1 more day at work tomorrow and then it's my weekend!! yay. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
So sorry about your cat.
Well done on getting your food shop down. Mine used to be £50 a week but it seems to be creeping closer to £60 just lately - I need to look at it again. It doesn't help that my eldest son has finished school and drinks ALL the milk (6 litres gone in 4 days) and eats...

Wow well done on the food bill!! That's a massive £1800 a year saved!! I found we were eating better once we cut back too as I had to meal plan and batch cook so a lot more home cooking being consumed. We look for a new recipe to try each time we go shopping too. This week is Dhanska curry .
All those lovely fresh berries too! Lucky you. Enjoy xxxxemergency fund:£179/ £1000 Uniform/car fund:£
