Thanks PSL. (just been posting a response on yours) xxx
Feeling brighter this eve. Opened bottle of birthday Prosecco (had classic 'it's friday night, need drink moment....and amazingly there was a bottle in the cupboard!) A little treat to help brush away the cobwebs! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Evening dear diary.
Had a nice day. A bit of cleaning, took DS to karate, a stroll around town...but we didn't buy anything unnecessary which was good. Got home and we finally put the cover on the poly tunnel - we'd been waiting for a window of sunshine and there really hasn't been any!
Still got to sort the door and the window out, but it's nearly there. Loads of plastic left, so think we'll be able to sort out a temporary fix on the half-glazed greenhouse! We've got a load of peppers and Toms in that at the moment, but they are not really doing much as the weather is RUBBISH, but perhaps in a nice snug polytunnel things may pick up!
At the very least we should be able to grow veggies for much longer this season, and start earlier next year which all helps.
Not great news on the cat front - she's not quite at the right level of meds, so ideally we'd need to get her on 20mg tablets instead of 15....this means 2 tablets a day instead of 1, and would cost £1.57 a day - that's nearly £50 a month ARRRGGGHHH. The other option (which may, or may not be possible) is for her to haven an operation to remove the thyroid gland, which would cost approx £120...so the maths is easy, it will be worth her having the op if she can, as she's full of beans and could go on for a few years yet. If she can't have the op we can continue on the 15mg tablets, which the vet said would be better than nothing...but I am still worried about how we will afford that even. No point worry about things yet, going to take her in next Friday to see if she can have the op and we will go from there.
Off to the inlaws for lunch tomorrow, but before that we're going to pick up a cast iron bath that someone locally is getting rid of for free. A lovely one with claw feet. No need for it right now - but we may convert it into a wood fired outdoors hot tub, or save for "dream house". They were desperate to get rid of it as had been let down and were considering smashing it up - so feel like we are doing a good deed. Not looking forward to getting it out of their house and into our van though!
In other news - have made nearly £10 in surveys so far. Tiny steps in the right direction. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Morning,
Bad news about the car but hopefully the op can be done as it sounds like it'll save you a load of money in the long run. It's so hard when pets need treatment isn't it. We need a pet NHS !
The weather has been awful I'm wondering if summer is ever going to start! I feel sorry for the poor farmers. I bet they are panicking.
Nice work on the bath. The wood fired horrible sounds great!!!emergency fund:£179/ £1000 Uniform/car fund:£

A few updates from me - all positive, yay!
We picked up the cast iron bath and it is AMAZING - in perfect quality, with beautiful feet and in way too good a condition to stick it in the garden as a wood fired hot tub.....so now it's destined for our "dream house" which means storing it until XX years until we manage to build it or buy it!! Anyway, a total bargain and a lovely thing to look at so made us both smile. Now where shall we put it??!!!
In other debt busting news - DH got some payments in and we've been able to clear both our 2 smallest credit cards - so now we're just left with the Big Bad Three. Also positive is that DH's expenses for August are nearly all covered too - and we've only just begun July so hopefully we can put some money into an emergency fund and start to work on that as we move into Aug.
On the DMP front, I have only had letters back from 2 of the 3 - both asking for SOA in different formats. Need to get on and sort out responding. Plan is to make token payments for July and Aug so we can stock up the EF, and then we should be able to start making a dent in the big debt.
I think maybe able to go back to work full time too - so that will mean more money in from me, but DH will drop to 3 days, so not sure if it will mean that we can fire more at the debt, or not, we will have to wait and see. Slight internal sigh from me in that I love having 3 day weekends....Oh well. It was lovely whilst it lasted, but I think it makes more sense in the long run to help stabilise our finances.
First veggie box arrived yesterday and it was giant. Going to order a fruit box tonight so be interesting to see what that's like and it will all help with keeping us out of the supermarkets!

Everything is sounding like it's going your way! Whoop whoop!! I bet if felt good paying off the two CC's!
Boooo to going back full time but if it helps money wise I'm sure toyll adjust. You could always drop back down once you've cleared a bit off and brought your dream home then spend your extra day off chilling in your new bathroom.

Very trueI I'm a bathing addict in reality so having a dream bathroom is very much on the wish list! I'm resigned to going back full time really - it needs to happen, but at least I can decide on when...so need to think about whether I do it from Oct or from the new year.
No major news from me so far - Still haven't heard from T@sco loan and noticed they have put missed payment on my Noddle account...whereas the 2 cc's that have responded have not marked anything as happening. Getting frustrated now!!This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
It must be hard going back to work. I suppose if you like what you do then its easier but still must be hard. Hope you are not too worried about that in addition to everything. And I hope your cat is ok. xxx2017- 5 credit cards plus loan

Morning. My lovely 3 legged friend was put down this morning. So sad. She was a beautiful creature who adopted me over 10 years ago with a ready purr and a spring in her step. They'll never be another like her. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
