Me and he struggle to remember our own annerversay, let alone anyone else's.

No we don't give each other cards or gifts and no we don't send them to anyone else

If I see a friend on FB has it as a status, I will add my good wishes, that's it. Same as birthdays, it's a FB message. The only birthday card is my mums one as she's a widow and rather quite lonely in her old age

I voted 'only for milestones' but that would then be further restricted to only parents milestones or only if invited to a do.

I would never send to aunts, uncles, siblings, friends unless they were having a big celebration and neither would I expect them to send to me, which they don't, so it's all good here, no histrionics over forgotten cards in my family.

We regularly get a reminder from my MIL to send a card to my SIL/BIL for their anniversary, which is a bit of a hoot really as they were estranged from most of the family at the time and the only people in OH's family who went to the wedding were his other sister and BIL who are now estranged from the rest of the family and who I've never met!

Now I don't know how people can use 'I never remember' as an excuse anymore.

My wife and I have a joint calendar on our phones. It's got everyone we need to remembers anniversaries and birthdays. We've also got to organise everyone's activities and outings in the house.

It's really not that hard to remember stuff these days - let a computer/phone/tablet do it for you.

Phew, ordered a present, and Amazon will deliver it tonight :)

My mum has only just figured out how to use the camera on her phone, they've been married 30 odd years, it'd be 40 before they got the hang of a synced calendar! :rotfl:

Set it up for them! My wife was sceptical at first, and wanted to keep the old 'calendar in the kitchen' updated.

Oh I value my safety too much to suggest that!
  • I would only send for milestones, i dont expect cards from anyone else apart from DH, unless of course its a milestone and the kids make a fuss.

    no, never. why would i?

for me an anniversary is for the couple, their celebration of their union i dont under why other people are included in that. i dont even remember my dad's anniversary, only if he mentions it thats when i'll say happy anniversary and ask what they have planned etc but i wouldn't think it has anything to do with me at all!

the other thread genuinely baffled me!

I didn't attend my parents wedding and was born 7 years later, so although it is nice they have been married for such a long time, I do not send a card. It is their day.

They did attend my wedding, so they can send a card if they like, but ultimately it is a day for hubby and I to be chuffed that we have managed another year without wanting to strangle each other.

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)
