Also, an announcement is only any use if everyone understands it. Plenty of people who fly don't necessarily understand the language announcements are made in (or are dozing off or listening to their music).

But it would be interesting to know why the OP didn't check the airline's policy *before* flying when there are lots of airlines who claim to be far more sensitive to the issue

I have often found that the way something is asked for has a direct bearing on the response.

I'm talking more about the raw food rather than sparingly added into such sugary and calorific food stuffs
