    Brussels airline

from their site (apologies if I am incorrect assuming this is nut)
    INFORMATION ABOUT NUT ALLERGIES
Brussels Airlines recognises that there are passengers who are allergic to nuts. We would like to inform you that we do serve nut products on board, and that there may be trace elements of unspecified nut ingredients in meals and snacks. Additionally, other customers may bring nuts on board. Hence, we are not able to guarantee a nut-free environment on a Brussels Airlines-operated flight. When making your travel arrangements, we recommend that you assess the extent of any allergies or other medical conditions.

It looks like they make no effort to not serve nuts and almost advise that you look at alternatives!

I suspect any complaint letter will result in a copy paste/link to the information on their website

Thank you. That's disgusting. Very pathetic of them and no sign of them being accommodating.

But again , 2 of the 4 journeys discretion was made, but this steward failed to do this now and in October. So I'll write in anyway

Did you not check their policy, or contact their special assistance team, before flying?

Maybe, now you are aware of Brussels Airlines policy you should choose another airline that caters to your special requirements in future.

TBH you don't seem to be grasping that in this case you're the one that's out of order.

You don't mention where you were flying but if to Brussels there are plenty of other options than Brussels airlines including car, bus and train - I can only imagine the response you'd get if you tried to get Eurostar to offer you a nut free service

As a frequent flyer I have some sympathy to your situation but it diminishes when you start to assert your rights over the remaining 200+ pax onboard

In summary wind your neck in, stop your quest for compo and operate/travel in a way that doesn't leave you having to moan where others aren't disadvantaged for your benefit

Why are you still around in that case?

Because I am physically and genetically fairly robust.
  • Just something the OP may wish to consider but from the tone of his posts I suspect he won't.

I have often found that the way something is asked for has a direct bearing on the response.

You need to accept that there is always going to be a risk from other passengers eating food containing nuts. For short trips to Brussels for instance you may be better off travelling by car.

On a related note, people with nut allergies often learn the appropriate phrase to use in restaurants. In some languages, Spanish for instance, the word often given in dictionaries for nuts only means one type of nut. The equivalent of dried fruit includes things we think of as nuts.

So you want to be free to travel regardless of the impact on other passengers and think you have such right.

I personally want to be able to get on a plane, and not have to worry that I might end up inadvertently killing someone because even though I had been made aware of their allergy and was prepare not to buy any nuts, I might have forgotten that old snicker bar that was in my suitcase from my last trip. I think I have the right to be free from the trauma of killing someone just because I sat on the same plane to them.

Honestly, if your allergies are so bad that even someone sitting 30 rows behind you having a snicker bar in their bag could trigger such a bad allergic reaction that even an epinephrine pen couldn't sort out, then frankly, I think you should indeed be prevented from flying in passenger jets all together. A holiday is a luxury, not a need.
