Thank you. That's disgusting. Very pathetic of them and no sign of them being accommodating.

Why do they need to be accommodating ? They are a business, and need to reflect the needs of the majority of passengers.

The flip side is that if they categorically claimed they offered a nut free flight they'd be liable if something got through the net. They can't reasonably inspect all carry on luggage and people's pockets for nuts.

I assume you've been kept happy previously by the crew asking passengers to refrain from nuts, but there's no obligation for passengers to adhere to that request.

As I suggested before, I'm not sure public transport is suitable for you if you expect 100% protection.
    Legal team on standby
  • If you do indeed have a potentially fatal airborne nut allergy, which are very rare, then surely you'd do everything you can to find out airlines policy in advance of every booking, rather than just unrealistically expecting them all to accommodate your needs. Your health and wellbeing is your responsibility.

Even not serving/eating nuts on the flight would be enough. How would you go on in the person in the seat before you, or adjacent seats had been eating nuts, and left residue on the seat backs, arms, tray tables, toilet door handles, infact any surface you may touch? If someone eating a bag of nuts or a snickers at the other end of the plane could prove fatal, I dread to think what could happen in they had.

I've flown when an announcement about not serving nuts and please refrain from eating your own has been made. It didn't stop them selling Snickers from the inflight trolley though.

There does seem to be a bit of DYKWIA in the attitude displayed.

Brussels air seem to be the only one that came up in searches.

Maybe I'll try euro star for Belgium as Brussels airline is the only ignorant and non accommodating airline I've encountered.

I will be writing to campaign for change believe you me

    Brussels airline

    Specific information from their website.

    Perfectly clear.

    Perfectly clear.

Although quite a lot clearer to most users of this forum in the English version posted 8 hours ago in post #23.

I carry my medicines with me. But I should not be expected to have to use them in the case of deliberate negligence which could result in manslaughter
Deliberate negligence from whom? No airline can refuse someone on their plane because they haven't agreed to be amicable to your cause, even less so for people's own forgetfulness/unawareness (maybe there were listening to music with their earphones when the announcement is made). Some/most companies might have a policy to make a request for nuts not to be consumed, but as it's been pointed out, none would take responsibility if something happened.

From what you are claiming, none of them are accommodating because none can assure you that the incident couldn't happen. There are not ignorant, they are realistic. Either you carry an epipen with you with the knowledge that doing so would prevent you from anaphylatic shock, whatever the circumstances, or you choose not to take any risk and don't fly.

TBH you don't seem to be grasping that in this case you're the one that's out of order.

You don't mention where you were flying but if to Brussels there are plenty of other options than Brussels airlines including car, bus and train - I can only imagine the response you'd get if you tried to get Eurostar to offer you a nut free service

As a frequent flyer I have some sympathy to your situation but it diminishes when you start to assert your rights over the remaining 200+ pax onboard

In summary wind your neck in, stop your quest for compo and operate/travel in a way that doesn't leave you having to moan where others aren't disadvantaged for your benefit

As someone who has been on the eurostar quite a few times, they are more than happy to stop selling nuts and make an announcement when a sufferer is on board.

Interesting as I've heard the opposite from a colleague who's a sufferer. He does eurotunnel with car that at least keeps him in a known environment.

A Eurostar train is a bloody big thing to be controlling who takes/eats what on board.

It's not only the passengers on the flight that could cause a problem.
When if the previous occupant of your seat had been eating nuts or other food stuffs that people may be allergic to and some remnants of this had been left on the seat, tray table, headrest etc,

The cleaning of cabins between flights can be extremely sketchy and it's very possible that some of the allergens could be left behind.
