Carrot cake recipe translation please!

    Not as good as the picture, but ill give you my secret tip (I actually made one today)
    I cut up orange jelly babies into little triangle/carrot shapes, and very thinly slice up green jelly babies to put on the end of the 'carrot' :)
    (although I usually just have one tiny 'carrot' in the centre of the cake and that's it - i like to keep it simple)

    Don't suppose there's any chance of a picture please? I'm not sure I can quite picture what you mean. Which way are you cutting the jelly babies ?
    If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

    What do you think about cinnamon icing? I have some exceptionally good cinnamon at the moment:

    It smells fantastic. I only have to open the cupboard and it hits me. I can smell it in the cake, and the kitchen. :D

    I made a sticky tea bread last week with cinnamon icing (just cinnamon, icing sugar & water) which worked well.

    Could I make cinnamon buttercream icing? Would that work, do you think?

    Candied peel recipe, easier than explaining myself :) Might as well make plenty and store it, it keeps for ages. I like cinnamon, but a nice fresh icing tastes better on carrot cake. Those carrots look as if they have just been made with coloured buttercream and an icing bag, pretty straightforward if you can use one.

    I had some carrot cake at Worcester Cathedral last week when on holiday and they were decorated with tiny carrots made from I think marzipan, looked ver effective as they were so tiny by the way it was delicious and made me want to come home and make one myself :):)
  • I also just ice and sprinkle with chopped walnuts. simple and taste IMO.

    Hi MrBE,

    As your thread has dropped down the board I've added it to your original carrot cake thread to keep the suggestions together.

    As others have mentioned I use a cream cheese frosting sprinkled with chopped walnuts but you may find other suggestions in this thread:
