It's worth noting that Iresa's systems count a zero balance as a debt. You have to be in credit for them to allow a switch. It's an automatic system and cannot be bypassed - that's what they told the ombudsman in my case.

Well lets hope the ombudsman slapped Iresa's bottom for that.

Just an update, but they sent me credentials so I can now login, see my tariff and my account is in credit of £30+ so I find it funny that they objected the switch. Maybe I was too fast with Bulb as it is in credit since the 23rd. Anyway, hopefully this will be fine for the next one. Thanks.

What was the Ombudsman response to that response from Iresa? Surely this essentially means they have admitted to having a system that is incapable of following OFGEM guidance?

I seem to have reached stalemate with Iresa in my debit situation so expect it to go to Ombudsman when eight weeks is up.

If you have reached stalemate, you can go to the ombudsman today
No need to wait for 8 weeks.
Simply ask the supplier to comfirm the stalemate situation (sometimes referred to as a deadlock letter)

She pretty much said she couldn't make them do something that they can't do!

BUT she did award me a MASSIVE apology payout which they paid eventually and that put me rather nicely in credit so I switched away successfully.

All's well that ends well. :)

... shame you then spoiled the ending by moving to a more expensive supplier, but it's your money and I'm not going to tell you how to spend it.

The payout awarded and the cashback for switching more than covers the difference in price.

And you can't put a price on piece of mind and getting rid of the stress and anxiety caused by Iresa - they broke me.

I got a rather odd email from Iresa yesterday in which they confirmed that final readings had been received, final bill had been issued and refund of credit balance had been processed. It then went on to say :-

"We would appreciate if you could briefly confirm if you agree for your account to be closed."

Maybe its some sort of legal requirement but they stopped suppyling me five weeks ago :D

My supply finished with them on 28/02/18 and they paid me my credit balance on 24/03/18. Since then I have sent 5 E-mails trying to get them to explain something that is wrong on my account. They have chosen to answer everyone of them saying that "We would like to inform you that your refund has been issued." They do not read what you send them.

If you are happy then say they can close your account.

In my case they refunded exactly what they owed me so I confirmed that I was happy for them to close my account. I'm just glad to be finished with them.
