Interesting article in the financial section of the Sunday Telegraph this weekend which indicates that Iresa nearly went bust twice in the very recent past.

To quiet adviser, I was in the same position with Iresa a couple of months back. Like you, after the involvement of the EO they were instructed to get my account sorted out nearly six months after the switch date to another supplier, repay the not insignificant credit balance plus £30 compensation. They finally did so 12 hours before expiry of the EO's deadline but unlike in your case they did pay the extra £30 without any further pressure.

I'm keeping a close eye on my IRESA leccy account, particularly any attempt to increase my DD....after this month's DD and usage, I'll only have about £12 credit - I have saved a lot more than that over the past 15 months so............:)

    ...

I thought they had already gone bust. Haven't been able to find them on any comparison site for months now.

What was all the furore last year about when they stopped taking on new customers? MSE'ers were assuring me at the time they were on the verge.

Once again banned from taking on new customers until they get their act together. https://www.ofgem.gov.uk/system/files/docs/2018/03/iresa_provisional_order_27_march_2018.pdf

I am still with them for my second year now. NO PROBLEMS at all!
No reason to be worried either. Just look at EVERY other supplier and read some of THEIR horror stories. NO supplier is perfect!
I am a very happy customer receiving great value energy!

  • Terrible company. I'm in the process of leaving, but they keep throwing hurdles in the way.

You're right, no supplier is perfect. But why won't they let me switch to them?

They would most likely quite happily accept your custom. Unfortunately they are prohibited from doing so by OFGEM.

I'm sorry that my sarcasm was lost. My point being that it's all very well saying that other energy companies have their faults, but they haven't all been banned from taking on new customers.

Just been on to my Iresa account to check on how much they have done about my complaint. The square root of sweet FA!

I have now sent another E-mail highlighting the Provisional Order from Ofgem. Maybe that will move them along.

I notice they have had time to improve some of the website. It shows all my usage in a nice chart and gives lots more detail about my usage. Such a pity they did not get their act together a bit quicker!
