    I was hoping for a refund today, especially after darren72 mentioned above they received theirs the same day via faster payments. It looks like this hasn't happened in my case as the refund has not yet hit my account.

    I thought receiving my refund so quickly might be too good to be true, but it was a nice thought. I shall probably have to wait the full 5 days.

    Hi
    I have just left Iresa at the end of a 12-month fixed term contract. Whilst the transfer to Iresa was without problems, leaving them was another issue entirely. They take the first month's fee in advance and I'm waiting for my bank account to be credited with the amount they still owe me. Most annoyingly, and lacking in professionalism, they refused to allow me to transfer to another energy supplier at the end of my term. They claimed that I owed them money as my electricity was in slight debit (no provision for settling the bill once the transfer goes ahead, as with other utitlity companies, because they block your transfer until the balance is paid). However, my gas was in vast credit, well in excess of the overall 'debt'. It took me 1 hour and 20 minutes on the telephone (all at my expense) to have the accounts rectified. If you swap to Iresa, don't expect any customer service, and be prepared for a lot of aggravation when you decide to change to a different supplier!
  • I just got the Ombudsman to reopen the investigation that was supposedly resolved. It was frustrating; the Ombuds rep kept repeating canned lines about the investigation having been completed, no further action possible. Eventually I was able to explain (the long, boring story I won't repeat here) in a way she understood, and she was horrified. So I've just sent in documents that show Iresa repeatedly provided both me and the Ombuds with false information. Perhaps I'm unduly optimistic, but this feels like actual progress.

    Meanwhile, my faulty meter was replaced today. I'm steeling myself for Iresa having problems dealing with new readings that start with 000...

    Once again, it was this website that recommended this useless company. Surely this site should step in & have a word & get rid of all the good advertising they done for this company.

    I think that it is fair to ask MSE CEC to spell out the criteria that they use to annotate a supplier with a Top Pick banner or other endorsement.

    Think the warnings have been up for at least 12months. Unless you know better? At worst "we have little feedback so buyer beware"
  • Sorry to double post, but I had a strange experience. I called up Iresa to see about getting my direct debit reduced. As usual, the rep was powerless to do anything, presumably because the direct debit is all tangled up in the two major ongoing issues I have with Iresa. Unusually, in addition to being powerless, this guy was a condescending a-hole. Even once he realised I was correct about how the underlying issue affected my billing, he still tried to suggest I didn't understand properly and that his condescending and incorrect "explaining" the problem was my fault. I asked for his supervisor, he got even more argumentative, and insisted I could only complain by email.

    So I hang up and am midway through writing my complaint email, when he calls back. And he is now 1) completely professional and 2) not powerless to do anything!!! He offers some genuinely helpful suggestions about documents I can send to solve one of the ongoing problems.

    Actual progress! In what is probably Stockholm syndrome, I almost feel positively towards Iresa.
  • Shocking response to emails. Between my father and I, we have sent seven different emails on various matters and have received ZERO responses. If you like good customer service, you may wish to avoid!
