  • Responding to Footyguy's link to Clause 4,6 in Iresa's T&Cs

I acknowledge Clause 4.6 but as stated in my original post I've on a Fixed DD so I don't see that it applies to me. Clause 2.11 states
"If you are on a fixed term tariff we will only change the terms prior to the end of the fixed term tariff if the change is not to your disadvantage, the information you have given us is incomplete or incorrect, we have to install a prepayment meter, or there is an increase in VAT payable."

None of the exclusions of 2.11 apply to me. (and I'm in credit)

The price increase Iresa notiofied me of late last year seems to be the cash grab so many are complaining about.

    D'oh!

I think you will find it is ther terms of the tariff (e.g. the prices) that are fixed, not your individualised direct debit amount.

It's not an 'all you can eat' tariff.

As for being in credit, in your first post you said:
... They claimed the DD increase was because the account was not in credit ... and the T&Cs permit an increase on a fixed 1 yr account if in debit. I see no such clause in the T&Cs ...

No you are not. You are on a fixed term fixed tariff agreement. The DD is variable and is only a payment on account. Whether they should increase the DD is a whole different matter.

Not sure if this will help anybody but I wanted Iresa to sort my bill out as they had not been producing bills for the Gas that I have used for the last 3 months. Have been submitting 2 reading a month and they acknowledge and confirm all of them. Emails to prove it.

Tried ringing them but after an hour of going from #121 down to #48 I got fed up and put the phone down. Decided to put my point across on their Facebook page. No confirmation that they have seen it but yesterday on my account they had done what I asked!

Still virtually the cheapest supplier available for me but the customer service is what lets them down. Like to get a answer to a problem when it happens not 2 to 6 months after the event!

Will be gone before my fixed rate ends in April!

Maybe I should start that process today?

  • I'm having the same problem with gas bill. My December bill showed 000Kwh usage even though I have sent meter readings. Seems the validation service keeps rejecting my readings.:mad::mad:

Yes same with me, November and December meter readings have not been used for gas. All the gas readings I have submitted are listed on the meter readings page but they just don't take any notice of them. I raised a support ticket and they told me to try submitting an extra mid month reading but that hasn't worked. No problem with the electricity meter readings.
  • I can confirm they are blocking all switches when your account is in debit, regardless of whether that debit has even billed.

I stupidly submitted a meter reading shortly before switching, and that put my electricity £6 in debt, but the last statement 14 days earlier showed the account in credit. No bill with a debit amount had been generated. They blocked the switch on this basis for electricity, but allowed the gas to continue.

I sent them a Twitter DM and within 3 days they have switched £20 from my gas account to electric account so the switch can proceed. They confirmed in that message the system auto bars any account in debit from switching. This is completely against OFGEM rules.

My DD is cancelled, so the accounts will both be in debt at closure, so I won't have to chase them for a refund.

    If you're leaving:
1/ Make sure accounts are in credit
2/ Do not submit any meter readings which could lead to a re-billing of the account
3/ Cancel your DD at the right time so your finish in debt
4/ If you need to get something sported - Twitter DM seems the best option.

    Good luck!

Thanks for coming back to MSE after almost 7 years absence, totalmus.

Such a shame you couldn't hang around today...

    Good luck!
  • I've been battling with these clowns since December to rectify their estimated reading which is 6000KWh more than my actual usage, leading to an inflated debt of £700 and a threat to take a one off payment. Avoid them like the plague, I can only imagine the capers I'm going to have trying to switch. I've been promised the earth by them but so far nothing they have promised to do has been done. Could do with watchdog looking into these buffoons before they start causing serious harm.
