Had my assessment after waiting over an hour to be seen. Nurse I got was a right !!!!! (excuse my language).
Putting words into my mouth, eg, I have a bladder problem which causes me to leak quite a lot. I told her this a couple of times but she kept saying, yeah but you only leak a bit and not everyday. Had to correct her twice!!!
Also, I have just started a treatment to give up my addiction to codeine. She turned around and said why didn't you just stop taking them, it can't be that hard!!!
Due to the codeine addiction and a lot of other things I am suffering with depression, she said you look ok to me!!!

I could not believe what she was saying. I managed to keep calm just!!!
Is this some sort of tactic she was playing to see if I got angry or abusive as she also asked me if I had behavioural problems due to codeine addiction!
Was she trying to wind me up or what? What do you think?

My husband has depression, gout, kidney cancer, high blood pressure, enlarged prostate causing him to leak, diabetes, sleep apnea, arthritis of the spine and shoulders, non alcoholic fatty liver disease, heart attack, cataracts.

He got a score of zero on the esa assessment, good luck!!

By the way you can put in a complaint about the assessor as well as the normal appeals etc

I had a codeine addiction and it wasn't pleasant. I'm told the withdrawal is akin to withdrawing from heroin- I've never taken heroin so can't comment on that but it's not pleasant- either the addiction or the withdrawal.

There is an operation available for weak/lazy bladder. It is fairly simple and is usually carried out as a day case. Results can be quite dramatic.

    How do I know? I've had one:D

    What happened to the apprenticeship?

Regardless of whether you should be on ESA or not, you should be treated with respect at the assessment and saying that getting over an codeine addiction shouldn't be hard is totally inappropriate, that is if indeed it was said this way.

Cant get funding for apprenticeship because of my age. Yes people I am trying to get off benefits and back to work but getting NO help. I am already on support group and don't care if I get ZERO points coming my way. What I didn't like was the attitude the assessor had just like a lot of people on here! Yes I will say I have paid into the pot since I left school and this is the first time I've not been working! So yeah I do expect help when I need it. A lot of people on here have never been on benefits and don't know what it's like to struggle, they just seem to get pleasure from having a go at people on benefits and have no interest in helping or advising people! Apparently I'm just a malingerer?! Is this because I'm on benefits? I'm more than happy to go to work but I need to sort my problems out first like I have been trying to. They put me in the support group last year without an assessment. Ive had 2 operations on my bladder. Bladder neck incision twice as the first one didn't go to plan! Next on the list is botox in bladder! So, anymore insults for me? I wish I wasn't on benefits because I don't like scrounging off all you tax payers!

Wow! After that tirade of expletives last night, the OP just has the post removed! People have been PPR'd for far less than that. What on earth is going on with the forum team these days?!

    Can't get funding for apprenticeship.
First assessment I've had but she just had a chip on her shoulder! Thanks for your reply.
  • WOW. No one has really insulted you! People saying things you don't like is not an insult. There isn't a huge amount anyone can help you with what you posted but like has been mentioned about, you are entitled to be treated in a respectful way throughout the assessment and so I would complain about the Nurse if you feel so was rude.
