This is goodThe phone bill I just totally cancelled I had a disagreement with them. So that is a debt I need to pay or £189 but I can't seem to pay it.
This is not so good. What is ER?
Electoral Register. Do you have polling cards to vote?I am 26 so classed as mature student I live in rented property and have a joint account with my partner who is on a good salary so I thought I would get an account no problem.
How long have you moved to the rented property? A recent change in address can negatively impact you for a while.
What is your OHs CR like? A joint account means you have a financial link and you can both be credit scored for individual products.I have only tried with my own bank I don't want to keep trying incase that looks bad against my report like I'm desperate for credit.
Good idea. You don't want to appear desperate. We have lived at this address since 2013. My partner and I received our poll cards the other day for the EU vote. He has good credit rating. I don't know what else I can do. If I manage to pay off the phone bill do u think my credit will improve?0

Another case of credit reference blackmail perpetrated by a non-lender. Whatever the ins and outs of the OP's particular situation, this again highlights the fact that utilities and phone companies use credit reporting as a cosh. You must do everything they say and be 100% compliant or they'll trash your credit rating.0 -

Really? I didn't know that. I don't know what I'm supposed to do now if the account can't be found so that it can be paid. My partner and I are saving for a mortgage but will I even get one because of a phone bill0
-
Do you have any correspondence with the account details on so you can get it sorted/hunted down.
It will stay on your CR for 6 yrs, the further back it shows, the lesser the impact but yes, a good broker will be able to get you a mortgage.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. Who knows.
You really need to get the payment sorted.0 -
Easier said than done I sat for ages on the phone to various people trying to pay the bill.
It was a good few years ago now and we have moved house since so I don't have any the old letters/statements with the account details on it.0 -
Your CR will show the last couple of digits of the account number.
If you ever paid by DD your bank may be able to give you information off the DD mandate which should have some sort of account details within it. Old bank statements.
Do you still have log in details for it? Can you log in?
If you ring them and give them your previous postcode, they should be able to find it.
You need to get this sorted ASAP. The sooner it's sorted, the sooner it will become history.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards.
