  • Vodafone should not be allowed to use Credit Agencies. Come on MSE Experian Representative how can we campaign to get your firm to knock vodafone off your service?

On deadlock letters. In my experience I have asked for these on several occasions and not received one, ever. They just ignore this request ?

My top tip for all dealings with Vodaphoney is either get the chat transcript or record the call. Smart Voice Recorder for Android works really well and has proved to be invaluable evidence for my many woes !

I had a phantom line added to my account (chargeable of course) which took 6 months to resolve and wouldn't have been spotted unless I rigorously checked the bill !
  • I am also glad Vodafone are being exposed.

I had 2 numbers with them, my own and one used by my Son.

In March my Son took out a contract in his own name with CPW.

I contacted Vodafone and asked for his number to be switched to PAYG as his contract was up and he didn't wish to keep the number.

In line with their policy they needed 30 days notice, so the switchover was scheduled for 4th April. This date came and went and the number remained on contract and I was charged another £40 monthy advance fee! I contacted them again and was told sorry it was cancelled (not by me) and I would have to give another 30 days notice! but i would get my charges refunded.

Switchover was rescheduled for 8th May. When the confirmation letter came in the post I noticed that the number on it was mine and not my sons, so, i called up yet again and was assured 3 times that it was Sons number that was being switched, not mine and 'do not worry, there is no issue with your number'.

Fast forward to 8th May and, yes, you guessed it, they switched my number. I was left without any service during the switch and then when service resumed i was unable to use the phone as i had 'no credit', my contract is not due to end until July 2017 (can't wait).

Several calls, live chat, social media and tons of stress later they reinstated my number and told me the credits for overpayment of Sons number had been applied, along with a 'goodwill gesture' £10 credit on the account.

Bill generated and there is an Early termination fee of £234 on there, but social media team are dealing with it so I waited.
I got an email from them to tell me it was sorted and my account is £2.13 in credit...............hmm, they owed me at least £79 so I decided to look at the bill. They had in fact applied my credits but then used them to offset some of the £234 ETF!! you couldn't make it up.

I emailed the team again with a detailed calculation of what I should have in credit as they seem unable to calculate anything!

I have had an email back to say they have amended the bill and I now have the correct credit, time will tell s my next bill will not generate until 22nd June.

I have been with Vodafone since i got my very first mobile but as soon as my contract is up I am going elsewhere, I wouldn't stay with them if it was free, its just not worth the stress :(

As an update to my previous post on this thread, I filled in a complaint at Resolver yesterday and just had a call from Vodafone customer relations with an apology and an attempt at sorting things out.

They have promised to do four things:

    1. Update my billing address which they had previously been unable to do - I'd tried myself online but it would not "stick".
    2. Credit me for the incorrect late payment fees I'd incurred because of their DD incompetence.
    3. Round this up a bit as a goodwill gesture - not by much, just under £12 but OK and I can't be bothered to argue for more.
    4. Set up a working direct debit.

I can already see from my online account that (1) has been done and is now correct.

I will believe (2)-(4) when and only when my next bill gets generated in early July showing a partial credit and a payment is correctly taken from my bank account for it.

However even if the only positive is that the billing address is sorted, Resolver has still done more in 27 hours than I managed to achieve in three months of repeated phone calls and live chats, so I recommend it!

switched off data roaming before leaving UK for holiday in Germany. When I got back the only charge was for £3.00 at 3 mins past midnight when I was asleep in the middle of the N sea on the ferry. Coincidentally vodaphone had sent a text at the same time as putting on the charge.
Rang up and spoke to 3 different people for about an hour. They claimed it might or might not be a charge and couldn't do anything until I got a bill. Got the bill the next day with the £3 charge for data. Rang again and after 20 mins complaining they said they would refund half. I said no as I didn't incur the charge. More arguing resulted in them refunding the £3 as I hadn't done it before. By then I had been with vodaphone for 2 months!
  • Hi everyone seen a lot of complaints on here about Vodafone I received a text from them yesterday saying that the prices are going up higher than inflation from 26/07/2016 so I have the right to cancel the contract without charge if you want to get out of your contract free look out for this text message but you will have to write to them within 30 days of receiving it hope this helps 😄

I never worked out how they did it, but Vodafone seemed to 'do' something to my wife's phone which forced it to disconnect from out home wifi and use their mobile signal instead. It worked fine before we moved to them and my phone (on Virgin Media) had no issues but she commonly went over her allowance but when we checked the phone was downloading multi-hundred megabytes of data in the middle of the night when it was sat at home in the same room as the wifi router with 'update over wifi only' enabled.

Since moving her off on to Virgin usage has been lower each month despite being out of the house more since starting a new job.

So difficult to prove but there was certainly something shady going on which allowed them to charge us £6 extra most months.

Also checked my credit file recently and found they still have an open direct debit set up despite us leaving them nearly a year ago.

Worse, as we have left them we can't check our bills now - as soon as you leave they close your web account and you lose access to old bills.
  • How much worse can Vodafone customer service actually get?
  • I recently had £20 taken from my bank account for Vesta Vodafone and when I asked in one of their shops was told they didn't know what this was, after having stood in a queue for an hour was handed a number and told to phone it. I contacted Vodafone on live chat and spent two hours trying to get my PAC number to leave them. One guy told me he would credit the £20 to my account then back tracked when I said I was leaving. Once speaking to customer service they told me they would credit the money into my bank and credit my bill with £30 as good will gesture, told them this was useless as I was leaving them but got no response. I have had issues with them in the past as well when I bought a new phone which stopped working after four days and they wanted to send it for repair. They need to look at their customer service and improve staff training I mean imagine working in a shop and you don't know about their services. Unhappy customer who has been with them for over ten years.
  • My contact ended in December 2014 after 7 years so I went to cancel but because I still owed allittle money I couldn't ... Till cleared ... I had lost my job and I wasn't paying my £35 bill so I was expecting and wanting to be cut off like usual if late or don't pay .. To save me all this ...

I didn't no I was going over my data and didn't no it was like £80 every month so the bill was getting even bigger Than I fort , I had enough money to pay my last 3 month miss bill that I was shocked id not been cut off for ..: check my bill to see a ridiculous number
I couldn't pay it !!! And didn't I wanted to see if this was correct first but got pay as u go today's anymore charged but still stayed connected on that phone when normally after a month of a late or non payment id b cut off to save me this massive bill but I wasn't CUT OFF or rang or texted or emailed

still to this date the contact is active in £1600 of debt I haven't used the phone since Jan 15 it hasn't been sent to a debt collect to stop it going higher
Ok I didn't pay when I supposed to but why have they let this debt accumulate to so much with out cuting me off ??? Is there away of getting out of this cheeper
I'm not in a contact so I don't see why they keep billing me I'd just cut me off send me to a debt collectors and have done with me ...
