Selling our house and had ridiculous offers recently

Fair enough - but it didn't take me more than a couple of minutes to find it from all the information OP had given - so if they want it kept a secret, they need to be more careful.
Clues I followed were... priced around £1.6m, in 'leafy bucks', AONB/greenbelt, put on sale around april, 3/4 acre with a large barn that has potential for development, and the biggest clue - an online agent (cos everyone else in that price bracket uses an 'upmarket' agent!)
Hmm interesting that if you put some of those words into a google search, "rightmove barn AONB greenbelt 3/4 acre buckinghamshire" you come up with a previous listing for the same property that has it as 3 bedrooms.0 -
If adding a bed turns a room into a bedroom, I have a 6bed, 1 bathroom property - 1 en suite to kitchen with lovely views of the garden!
I#m off to call in a few EAs
:T
No offence OP, as I understand your property is somewhat unusual and mine is not.
I see this a lot and immediately move on to the next property.0 -
Agree with LittleMax the OP gave more than enough clues to find the house with only a couple of minutes search.
I also agree that using an online agent for a house with that price tag is the worst thing anyone can do, I think it just smacks of greedy sellers trying every trick in the book to get way more than the house is worth for the smallest outlay they can get away with.
If the OP doesn't like what I say then why do they post on an open forum? If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0 -
I *think* I've found the rightmove ad.
In my opinion it looks like a 3 bedroom house.
Also is there no dining room? For 1.5 mill I would want a separate dining room, not eating in the lounge or kitchen0 -
Dining room? You mean Bedroom 4...chelseablue wrote: »Also is there no dining room? For 1.5 mill I would want a separate dining room, not eating in the lounge or kitchen0 -

Ah, you're just down the road from me!
I used to have a business partnership with an agent (not selling houses...) who operates not too far from you, and shows up a few times in the same search I used to find your house. At least half of all business seemed to be done with families he already knew and had on record, many of which weren't 'officially searching' but he knew might be tempted to make a move for the right property. He says many couples walked in desperately wanting to view a character property in Great Mis, and walking out with a horrendous 10 year old mcmansion in Beaconsfield
Unless you have a rolodex full of properly millionaires I'd seriously consider ditching the online agent.
Also remember agents you get through the door will be trying to sell you their services before your house. Many will overcook the price to get you interested, and then talk you down later. And don't be afraid to haggle.0
