Was enjoying it until DH put on the annual misery fest (oops sorry EastEnders and coronation street). Cue a bath then putting DS to bed. How I would love to take a shotgun to the TV.:rotfl:

I have to disagree with you there: a cricket bat would be far more satisfactory. ;)

    How's the decluttering going?

I used my steam cleaner and I have some tips to make it easier!
I used old socks (one each side) over the head of the steamer. They didi not come off and are cheaper than replacement cloths :)
I press it on over the sink until the annoying dripping water stops then I use it so it stays all nice and dry.
Really pleased with the results this time :)

Mmmmm. A cricket bat. How I miss the single girl days when I didn't have to have a TV in the house.;) Ive been decluttering all morning.

Thanks for the tips. They're fab. I did wonder why everything gets so wet. I will be getting out later.
glad you had a good day and are motoring again. i'm determined to get all rooms bar those occupied by the offspring, completely sorted pre new year. the decluttering will re commence in earnest in January.

I would love to get it all done by new year but I would need one of those teams on ladder I think. :rotfl:

Good luck with getting it sorted. It will be a nice way to start the new year.

I have been at it all morning. Tidying, sorting, throwing away. I have a bin bag of DS's clothes to go and will start on mine soon.I have realised that my challenge last year I set to get it done by Christmas was ridiculous. I also realised as long as I keep going and don't add to the mess it will get better daily. Ha ha, I'm a genius. ;)

I'm currently working on my challenges for the coming year, especially debt related. I'm working out minimum payments and what extra i would like to do.

This year I plan to do things differently from the previous 11 though. This year I plan to have a life while attacking it. I think this is why I failed before. Existing is not enough, life needs to be lived. This year coming i will no longer wear cheap jeggings.:rotfl:

    Back later.

Genius = 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration, apparently (according to I know not who).

You'll make it. You've got what it takes. :)

I'm struggling today cherry. Its always ups and downs with me. I'm afraid my mind is elsewhere and I can't focus. This is not really helped by being up half the night with a poorly DS. I'm thinking about sorting out my car after lunch as its disgusting. Really, really disgusting and not just the outside. I may even take it to the carwash.........perhaps.;)

My bin is stuffed full and I have piles to take to the charity shop.

I'm really keeping on top of the washing and getting it put away. Wonders will never cease.:rotfl:

I have also decided I need to focus on my career in the coming year. I struggle with what I'm doing. Its not enough and no creativity apart from constant colouring in. I feel so frustrated that even though the young adults I work with have profound learning difficulties that they can do so much more than colour in day after day. I used to teach the same level of student and we used to produce so many excellent pieces of craft work. Anyway, off I've gone on a tangent again. I really need to look at improving qualifications, networking with the correct people at work and working to improve my confidence with what I can do.

Anyway, I need to get on or I will sit here all afternoon.

    Have a great day.

You sound like you're getting loads done parsniphead, all that de-cluttering and washing :T.

I'm sorry DS is poorly, hope he's better soon.

Your career goals sound very sensible and that sounds like the right way to go about it.

  • I miss your Joan Didion quote, it was amazing.

Do clean the car at the carwash. It will give you a lift

Do go for it on the artistic front. I found achieving artistically really lifted me in 2017. It was definitely the year for me pushing myself creatively.

I hope the boy gets better soon and you get some good quality sleep tonight. Lack of sleep makes everything more difficult

I just read this passage by Richard Gregg.

Voluntary simplicity involves both inner and outer condition. It means singleness of purpose and sincerity and honesty within, as well as avoidance of exterior clutter, of many possessions irrelevant to the chief purpose of life. It means an ordering and guiding of our energy and our desires, a partial restraint in some directions in order to secure greater abundance of life in other directions. It involves a deliberate organization of life for a purpose. Of course, as different people have different purposes in life, what is relevant to the purpose of one person might not be relevant to the purpose of another…. The degree of simplification is a matter for each individual to settle for himself.

I do believe that every now and then we have to stop... either to stand back and reassess what we're doing, or just to slump for a day or so until the mojo has recharged.

I hope things are better today... once DS is feeling okay again and the car is nice, if you get the charity things out and actually dropped off (not left in the boot - that's our star turn!) you will be able to see the wood for the trees again. I still really admire your ability to let go. It just doesn't come naturally to me!

Something else in your post resonated with me so am dropping you a pm, if only to talk shop for two minutes!
